Can anyone please reccomend a graphics card for my Win7 Media Centre. It's got a Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products?search=Z1-MB7-GIG-73PVM-S2H) with both PCI slots full (tv card and sound card) The case is big enough for a full height card. Naturally I woudl prefer a passive cooled card to keep the noise down

many thanks

I just picked up a Sapphire HD4670 Ultimate 2nd hand from a forum member.

runs surprisingly cool at 40c when decoding 1080P content under Windows 7MC in an Antec Atlas case http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product1.php?id=Mjg= with 2 92mm tricools on slow at the front (blowing over 3 1TB F3s and 1 x500GB F1 before the card) and a Tricool 120mm at the rear, also on low.

I have an XFX HD4650 512mb ddr2, also nice and cool, silent fan as well.

Thanks both.
I'm going to check if I have the space to fit the 4670

Passive cooled cards... Radeon everytime for a HTPC. HD4350 or the HD4550 are both good cards with native HDMI and passively cooled... and at a price you can't argue with.

Got one myself to upgrade the motherboards on board HD3200 as it just wasn't quite enough to handle 1080p stuff smoothly enough for me... Now everything is smooth and silky.

If you just going to watch tv and not play games try to get a passive as most fan controlled ones can get really noisy!!

I am not aware of any passive 46XX that occupy a single slot, so better check.

IS a single slot passive card.

I have moved the TV card up to prove the point ;)

And for the OP's purpose would work nicely, and even if used with a Low profile card he can still use the PCI-E 1x slot ;)

a 4670 would do the job nicely.
