So I have myself on of these

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Hard+Drives/External/Freecom+Hard+Drive+XS+1TB+USB-2+?productId=36066

and on Thursday night it was working fine when I left home to go for a few drinks and when I came back and tried to play some music of it, its not working at all

When I click on the icon in My Computer it gives me the error "please insert disk" or something like that.
Also when I hold it, it doesn't feel like its spinning up at all.

Now this drive was more or less full with all my music, TV stuff, films the lot and Im well gutted.

Anyone got any clue about what to try to get the data back??

can you open the case and install the hdd in your PC?, it may just be a connection thats gone?

Not sure about that is I might void the warranty.
Im going to have a look at that after work and see.

Not sure if I can even remove the rubber case thats round it.

You could ask on freecom's forum:

Or RMA it?
