Shuttle sd37p2 gfx help please :)

At the minute i'm using the X-Space Ultra System from aria :)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Memory: 2 X 1GB PC6400 Elixir DDR2 800
Hard Drive: 320GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA 2
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce 7600GT 256MB
CD Drive: NEC ND-5170A-0AS 18x DVDRW
Case: Shuttle SD37P2 Socket

All very nice indeed, cpu at 35c, system at 39c and gfx at 67c while i'm browsing this forum! The problem is when i play world of warcraft :shock: my gpu temp goes up to 91c :roll: . Now i know it'll slow itself down at 130c but it is slightly worrying that i could nearly boil water in there.

So i would like some advise on a new card with a fan, i'm not bothered about noise as you can't tell the shuttle is on at the moment, i'm not bothered about overclocking and i'm not bothered about dx10 or the big games. I just play warcraft and the odd film on here. I'm only bothered that the whole thing doesn't end up a bubbling wreck of molten metal and plastic. Oh and i don't wanna spend a lot as Mr.Mastercard is already a bit angry with me :oops:

Taken from another thread but would still apply to your gfx card. My only concern would be that the 900 might not fit in your sff case as i believe it overhangs the top of the gfx card slightly.

Hmmm deffo a cheaper option there. Slightly more time consuming than taking the molten one out and putting a nice new one in but still a good idea. Only problem is the wife didn't talk to me for about a week last time i did anything like that, there always funny about thermal paste on the duvet cover :oops:

Now that is a good idea, but i'm still swaying towards a new card and just a straight swap in and out :)

All stockies are crap, that temp is safe btw, Will be a nice radiator next winter if you want XD Or for now. GPUs can take 3 or 4 times a cpus heat. I would reccomend the zalman though, i can upload a piccy of mine if ya want.

It's just that its a passive heatsink thing, no fan on it. Maybe i'm just being a bit paranoid about heat after years of keeping things cool, i'm not use to these new things lol. For all i know my last gfx card in my old shuttle could have been the same temp and i couldn't check.

Well i'm still on the look out for a nice shiny new graphics card for the shuttle. I just want something that fits in the sd37p2 and keeps cool. Doesn't have to be too amazing as i'm only really playing 1024 anyways. I managed to get my GPU up to 104c last night so i think i'll be purchasing as soon as i get paid :shock:

Update, plumped for the zalman for a tryout cause so many people seem to like em. Idle has gone from a steady 67c to a low 45c, not tried a game yet but so far worth every penny!

Thanks to all who's mentioned the zalman, nearly as big as my shuttle but hey, if it keeps it cool i don't mind :)
