Hi all, new here but I知 just looking for a nice simple answer.

I知 looking into upgrading soon, bit by bit probably. So Mboard + CPU first, then other various things, I知 running a AMD Athlon 2400+ XP at the moment, with 1GB of memory and a cheap but satisfactory Nvidia GeForce FX 5200.

So I'm looking around a
AMD 3800
2GB memory
Around 」150 Graphics Card

New Aluminum case
Nice fans
A smart fan controller board.

But the last 3 I can do myself aren稚 urgent.

When I last upgraded a while back, I found it quite easy, to know what went with what and such. But the 4 different types of PCI Express and the loads of different types of processors out there is puzzling me.

So really I知 looking for help and suggestion, and reviews (mainly on Graphics cards)

I would like to know, what Motherboards will work with a graphics card, and processor but still have 2 or 3 standard pci slots for my other card I have in at the mo (TV tuner, Sound, Fire wire).

Erm also the choice of a good graphics card, but not to pricey, and of course a compatible mother board.

So really just advice on what to get and making sure it will all fit together.

All help, advice and reviews will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much
Lewis

Would I be right in saying you're looking to go for PCI-E? Also, do you prefer Intel or AMD?

tip:

Wait till about the 30th of july...

Intel are dropping the price of alot of their processors and AMD is desperately trying to drop theirs too after previously saying they wouldnt engage in a price war...

Intel is reducing (up to) 60% from single core cpu's
And about 15% from Dual core cpu's

:) in light of their new core cpu aswell.. (a real test for amd, as the slow 2.6ghz one Whupp'd the flagship AMD processor, when overclocked. So the extreme edition ver im looking forward too) :)
