View Full Version : GeForce 7300GT cooling
Hi guys,
I have just brought a GeForce 7300GT 256MB graphics card, installing it was ok, when i got into the NVIDIA control pannel the tempreture said 55C, is this normal? i have 4 case fans running as well.
Cheers guys
Hi,
Yes i would say this is normal as iv only just turned my pc on and my Gainward 8800 is 57C
:-)

Have you not overclocked it atall?
I got a 7800GT OC which has been on for 2 days now and it's at 54c....and I have the fan running at something like 30% not 100% and it's overclocked.
But tbh I wouldn't worry about that temp, maybe see what it goes up to when your gaming....i'd say keep it below 65.[/quote:33e5aa3dbf]
Hi,
No iv not tried overclocking anything yet.
My 6800GS idles at about 38/c, with a case temp of around 29/c You have to remember that GPUs can cope with alot higher temps than a CPU.
For instance, the default 'threshold' on mine that is set by the vid card driver is 120/c. So I wouldnt worry too much about 55/c. They get hot! :)
Yes, I also own a 7300GT (soon to have a second! :D), and the threshold is pretty damn high. As a general rule of thumb for 6xxx to 7xxx cards, anything up to 80*c is 'safe', believe it or not. If you want the card to last longer though, I'd suggest trying to keep the temp. under 60*c.
I have had this problem before with teh X1600, running at 50 with 100% fan, and 128 and almost burnt itself out ingame, I shoved in a zalman 700cu and it works like a dream, 42 idle, and not a peep over 55 running full with like a 1/4 overclocked cpu, and 1/3 ram.
That sounds normal bigdan, my 7300gt is currently idleing @ 48c and thats with a Zalman cooler strapped to it so mid 50's with stock cooling sounds about right.
my 6600GT is idle at 35c with a threshold of 127c though it did use to be about 42c idle before this case

Just come off playing BF2 with everything on full graphics and my temp is 62C
Which is an ok temp.
My 6800GX idles at 48-49, after thrashing it, it goes up to 65C. Max is set by default at 135C. Never got anywhere near it. :) Your temps sound normal to me.

Thanks for your input guys
cheers
I have the all copper version of this, unfortunately i can't seem to find it on Arias site but this would do almost as well.

Or if you want something chunkier then this will do nicely.

Same i have the full copper, what temps do you get? and what sort of clocks?

my 6800GT goes up to 122c when i play a 3 year old game

Then you really need to remove the card and think about replacing the cooling solution on it.
