...and what do you have now?

I started with a Zenith 11 before moving on to Canon and never looked back.

I still have two Canon A1 bodies and their lenses, use to have a Canon T70, but I upgraded to a Canon 20D about 5 years ago.

An old box brownie my grandparents gave me when I was about 6 years old.

The first one I bought myself was a 2nd hand Zenith 11 as above.

I still have one today, although I dont use it any longer, great cameras, built to withstand a nuclear blast!!

I only ever had disposables as a kid, or really dire 27mm ones, in my teens I borrowed an old Canon SLR from my mum but I was never very good with it. Now though I have a Nikon D40X (hardly an awesome camera) but I'm competent enough with it and get some good results (well a few people have told me so :p).

Decide for yourself really I guess.

I did try out Canons before I got the Nikon but they just felt wrong in my hands whereas the Nikon felt just right. :)

A Coronette Flashmaster (never owned the add-on flashgun)
Took 12 square pictures on a roll of 120 film. Suppose it's a museum piece now.

I lied, it wasn't a II, is was an "E"; a Special Edition "Olympic" model from 1976 or 72; not sure which, it was in good nick, but obviously well used when I bought it in about 1980!!

They were all very heavy, solid cameras, you wouldn't risk dropping it on your foot unless you were wearing proper steel toecaps (not that cheap high street cr@p, but Toetectors!!)

I was 17 when I bought myself a Canon EOS 350D after joining Waitrose a couple of months earlier, to take to Iceland (the country, not the supermarket lol). Considering I bought it the day before I went, I'm pretty pleased with some of the shots I managed to take. Beautiful country, will return there one day.

I'd love to go back to Iceland. Its amazing. I think I'd go at the same time of year as I went last time (Winter)..

Ahh right - I went on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows release day (21st July '07), as I had a copy with me which everyone wanted to borrow lol.

But yeah, I liked the "summer" as although there was still loads of ice around in most places, it was quite verdant and we could see the volcanoes and landscape too and hiking was really easy. But totally worth revisiting i reckon.

Definitely... Its an amazing country. Couple of the highlights for me were seeing Gulfoss completely frozen. Absolutely stunning sight. And the Blue Lagoon too..

But one of the most incredible things was going to a geysir field, seeing boiling water fountains come up out the ground, freeze, and come down as snow.. I'd go back just for that!

Nikon FG, Nikkor lens, with an MD12 motor drive, which I bought in 1985. I still have it, can't bear to part with it.

Snap. Also had some flash sticks that were single use with I think 6 flash tubes things in? Remember it in a cube format as well.

Hi there

I had some Olympus 640x480 Digital thing, was my first proper camera, had a few disposables before that.

Not sure what came after the Olympus, think I might have just used a girlfriends but can't remember back that far.

But the last few years I've had a Canon G7 Professional Point and Shoot, truly awsome camera, the quality of images it produces are fantastic, especially for a compact. :)

That seems par for the course, for Canon. Incredible cameras.
