I have a dead MK4 Astra Diesel sitting in the road outside my home.
Waiting for it to be fixed at mates rates ;)
Now the insurance runs out at the weekend so I need to get it onto my drive way...
The drive way is quite steep! although the top part is flat.

Shows it to a degree. the far end is about 5 foot higher than the road
I have myself and other half plus 3 other bodies to get it up the top.
looking for suggestions on the best way to get it up there?
Get your strong burly 'lumberjack' of a son on the job :D;)

No he is about 90 miles away where he lives.
Rope round the tree to a working car. :)
Seriously though, a ratchet strap or something would do it, slowly.
4 blokes should do it, with the mrs in the car to apply the handbrake for rests.

no trees :( had thought about using the good car on next doors drive as a stabiliser, the clutch on the other car is suspect otherwise i would have towed it up
I've pushed a saloon up a similar slope with 2 people actually, it's hard work but possible.

Well with 4 of us should be possible then :)
what's the tax status on it - if it's going to be off the public highway for a while, don't forget to declare it SORN.
DT.
Initially start pushing fast and the momentum will help you push it up to the drive.

Tax disk has a couple of months so will be cashing it in ;)
just be glad to get it up off the road so this guy might finally come and fit the replacement injector pump.
I hate Bosch and CAN bus :(
Wedge the rear of the wheels while you are pushing it up to stop it rolling back on you.
Unless the ecu has other ideas, you could stick it in gear and use the starter motor to get it up the last bit Snigger
I hate Bosch and CAN bus :(
That's like blaming TCP/IP for BT's customer service website.
CANbus is a terrific protocol, it makes very good use of recessive/dominant bits.

it is all the time it works, but when it doesn't...
It can make diagnosis very easy and very fast if you know how. With the right tools you can immediately identify the faulty CAN device.
The OBD codes usefulness depends on the manufacturer.
No idea but make sure you video it, just in case :D

well it's on the drive, but about 10 foot up the slope was the best we could manage.
