We all know that once you get past the marketing blurb, "silent" psu's are much more expensive devices, and there arent a huge deal to choose from out there.
That said, which do you think is the king of the price to performance ratio to date & why? (product preferably available at aria)

Ok... research done. It looks like the 650w Seasonic, which is impossible to get anywhere at the moment. A hefty price point too, at £120.
I got the X-750 just last week, and I paid just over £120, only for it to dip just below £120 a couple of days later! Anyway, you're not searching hard enough: get the X-750 for the extra power headroom and the £/watt ratio is better into the bargain.

Hey mate. Thanks for the reply. The headroom wouldnt really be needed so thats not a concern of mine- 650w would have more than enough headroom- idle looking at 200w maybe, and even with a 4ghz i7/5870 combo you'd be looking at < 600W at absolute peak.
The corsair looks like it doesnt have a temperature controlled fan- thats my main gripe. The x-650 seems amazing, almost pure silence in a non-load situation. Probably sounding perdantic- but the build is for a music studio so extreme silence is key.
Custom pc recently reviewed 650w psu's, maybe it was PC format, have a looksie anyway.
I'll get googling the x-750. I assume it has temperature controlled fan?I haven't built my system yet as I'm waiting for other parts to arrive, but yes - all the info I've seen is that these PSUs are identical besides the power rating. Fan is off completely during low system idle, and then spins up gradually under load.
Maybe system noise difference is not so important to you as it is to me, but I'm building i5 with 1 gpu, even so I felt the 750W won't bat an eyelid even under max system load - in theory the fan will never spin up anywhere near maximum.

Think I was just editing my post as you replied :P Will continue to look at this :)
My older PSU is a 600W S12 Seasonic, always quiet even with my 8800GTX & Athlon 4800+ (high power draw system) so basically I feel safe pretty buying Seasonic again.
Corsair are a bit hit & miss, some are made by Seasonic anyway and therefore OK, other Corsairs are by another OEM brand and much poorer. Point your browser at SPCR if you haven't already, and [H]ard|OCP also recently reviewed the X-750
Antec TP-650 looks like a great unit.

For some reason, I thought you were talking about the corsair HX-750 earlier, damn my brain  And thanks again for that message earlier ; )
