core 2 duo are 65 i believe

the smaller the transistors the more they can fit on a processor, however going below 65 has been a stumper for a while as the usual silicon looses stability if it goes any smaller, so good old intel / amd have found a new material capable of going as small as 45nm.


Which will mean cheaper faster and more cores by the end of this year for intel and the start of next year for amd so i read.


Roll on the 32 core 5ghz per core Processor for £100 ;)

Yeah, the FX-74 great if you own your own power station. 511 watts, at idle (compared to 387 for the QX6700) and 713watts at load (compared with 573watts for the QX6700) on the same setup,

Oh, and its not that much better than a QX6700, and actually worse in some tests!

I notice that c2d chips have come down a few quid.........

In 6months I may be able to afford one!!!!!!!!
