How About This? should be on budget:p (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Fans,+Heatsinks,+Coolers/Accessories/CoolLaboratory+Liquid+MetalPad+-+CPU+-+3+pack+?productId=30389)
I would like to purchase
Gladiator Intel i3 530 @ 4.2GHz Overclocked Gaming Motherboard Bundle
and an Antec P193 case. Would you install the motherboard in the case like Scan do?
Also could you recommend a high performance cpu cooler to use in the case rather than the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler.
The reason I ask is, I want a quite pc that is good for overclocking but the P193 case can be a problem for tall cpu coolers.
Hopefully you can help me
This forum would be very good if people from aria looked at what you typed, and replied to your questions.

I want to take the plunge in a machine that will run some high end titles. My benchmark is Crysis and my budget approx. £800. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am not technically minded - I just love games :P

you'd be better off making a new thread for this, you'll get more replies.
Also, hit google and see what others are posting in the way of pictures for your case in "show us yours" threads, this will give you the widest return for what might or might not fit, or simply google case and the cooler you want and see what comes back
I havea P193 case, but only have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 6 in it.... i think the Titan FENRIR will fit, but not 100% sure
EDIT:
apparently it wont fit...

much more info about coolers (and review panning) here
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cases/2009/06/16/antec-p193-review/comments/
If you ask me Antec got tight fisted with the P193, they should have
1. increased width to allow for the space behind the motherboard tray, but instead between the P180 (which had no such space) and P193 they actually reduced it
2. when they stuck this fan on the side, they should have increased the width again, the side panel is too heavy with it on there it should have been internally mounted, it doesnt even come close to sealing the lower compartment, warps and i've dropped it at least once because they changed the fixing style, and it's now crap, not to mention the new side coating is not half as attractive as the P18o or P182/3
at least the water cooling grommets can be used for routing the fan power cable and speed switch out and back in, this way you can control it from outside, whilst also being able to disconnect it before removing the side panel
Next case i use will be one i build myself i think, build quality on Antecs are going down hill... i'll just get the rear panels etc from mountain mods and build an ally frame to accommodate them then some custom side panels
Is the only way to speak directly to someone like Steve or Gibbo on the phone or can you be contacted on msn or some such to discuss a build/order?
Gibbo is puchasing management so he's probably not the best person to talk to if you want a PC built for you; not sure about Steve.
On the other end of the spectrum. I'd like to pick everyone's brain on their ideas for a sub 400.00 (notice the lack of Pound sign, as my current PC is a 2005 Dell Inspiron 6000 from the USA). Upgadeablility is key so I assume AM3? Dual core at least. All it needs to do is basic internet and a few word docs and spreadsheets, no major gaming. Oh and did I mention that budget must include monitor, mouse and UK keyboard.
I have some ideas like AMD X2 240/250, pref. Gigabyte MD that will have on board VGA and support DDR3, any cheap DVD-RW, 250GB Western Digital, mem debatable, LG 19" monitor (if Aria keeps the special going) I have a case already thank to some bargains clearance in the Aria shop, Power supply....did I leave anything out?
What do you think?
Hi mate i put this list together for you thou their is a an error the ram stick you can afford 2 of them giving you a total of bout £402 this is without keyboard and mouse you can pick up cheap..
https://www.aria.co.uk/WishList/7jShKALlsnp8uqzEjIM8MQ,,
the board offers crossfire support in the future as well as support for the new 6 core offering from amd. It also features core unlock with luck your tri core might be able to unlock to a 4core. It also has usb 3 1 port.
case is personal choice should be adequete and fit all of the listed easily while looking nice inside.
the ram is fine still have a lifetime warranty.
the psu is excellent even thou 400w does not seem a lot.
the board has onboard decent graphics to start you off.
and you have a tri-core @ 3ghz instead of a duel.
+a 500Gb hard drive hope i covered everything
as well as a 18.5 ws monitor, these are highly rated for the price.
regards Zod
Thanks Zodiark.
That definitely got me thinking on that one. Didn't think about looking at ASRock, I don't know that brand at all, and don't ask me why but I never even considered a Tri-core. Probably because a the stigma of it being a "broken" Quad, but you make a very good point. Three is better than two and if it is possible to unlock...SWEET!
Tri-core and OS though, I presume any modern OS would see the tri-cores, but would they be able to take advantage of all three? At the moment I'm running Ubuntu, but Win7 could be an option later on.
are you referring the operating seeing only 3 cores if the 4th unlocked? if so the os would see the 4th.
as for taking advantage yes it would, but os don't really need to much to run an their optimal rate only way of improving an os greatly really is a solid state drive to improve read and write times.
theirs what i think a fair bit of power for your budget their.
the tri core will help you with multitasking and gaming and a lot of other features that escape me as of now. this build is upgradable and would last you a fairly long time with what you intend to use it for.
If I am in the wrong place please advise as I am new to this forumm! Please can anyone help with my problem. I have just built a PC using an ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard. An intel core i7 930. I have installed 6gig of Viper DDR3 SDRAM (3x2gig) These are in slots a1,b1,c1. I am running on windows 7 ultimate 64bit. My system will only recognise that there are 4 gig fitted. The Patriot website says , check if bios has a 'memory remap' option in the bios, and enable it. I ca'nt find that!

Hello and welcome to the fourm.
We had another person with the same issue a few days ago.

While technically not the right place (your best creating a new thead!) have you checked to make sure all the RAM is inserted properly ?
Also, have a look in the motherboard manual.
im running vista 64 bit ihave a intel quad cpu but pc shows a 2core
I 'm a newbie to this forum, and I would like some help please. I have built my latest PC. I have a Asus P66X58D-E Motherboard, an Intel core i7 Bloomfield, Patriot viper DDR3 RAM (3x2GB)Radion HD5830 graphics card. I am running windows 7 ultimate 64bit. The PC will only recognise that 4GB is installed. I have looked at various expert sites, and cannot find a positive solution as to how to get the PC to recognise 6GB.
I have tested the RAM by rotating the modules, and all work. I cannot find any info in the MB manual that helps. I have tried pressing the built in MEM OK button on the MB, and still no go.
I want to use the PC for video production, and the RAM is letting the spec down. Although I do not find it difficult to build PC's What I am now beginning to recognise is that I have a serious lack of technical expertise!
I hope I have got my question in the right place now. I do see some r eplies to my 1st post, thankyou.
I would be most grateful if any one can help.

i'm guessing not  ... i'd say bios config error, looks to me like it's running in dual channel mode an discarding 2gb, but you are right, he should also be making a new thread i think, ScottiB might want to rename this thread so it relates better to his first post, which i'm thinking not many are reading !
Hi gunslinger. Hope you and scotty can put me back ontrack. The bios does recognise I have 4 cores. Does this help?
Link broken on previous help, so I was not able to access it. My link is now broken.

ok, if i was you i would start a new thread in the appropriate section, post up your exact system specs, and ALL of the BIOS settings you have set.
Also and this is very important, the RAM slots you have the RAM installed in.
Then, during POST you should see some info about the Memory configuration, post that info too, dont worry about getting it exactl the main thing is what amount and configuration it is saying (for example 4096mb Dual Channel and the speed in mhz)
My bet is you have the BIOS set wrong, or the memory in the wrong slots causing it to run in Dual Channel mode, thus disregarding the 3rd 2gb stick.
Please also run CPUz and make sure that can see all 3 modules installed.
I do not have an i7 or motherboard with Triple channel controller, so my ability to help will be limited, but, as your OS should see all of the memory, then something is amiss before the OS, and is reporting wrong to it.
EDIT:
confirm this is the motherboard you have ?
http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=gFBKfNyhppW9tDbB&templete=2
if so, then a quick google results in these links, along with a number of others...

ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR BIOS IS UPTO DATE, as this motherboard has at least one bios update with this listed in the change log "Improve memory compatibility"
EDIT 2:
Patriot Memory has really good customer support, have you contacted them ?

It's not out on retail yet?
But yeah, as far as AM3 goes, it's the best board available. Worth it over the Crosshair IV Formula? I don't think so personally.

how the hell do you know that yet? :P
there's no benchmarks or OCing results for it yet, so you shouldn't say such a thing.

?
It's not going to be worse than the already the best Formula.
And it not being worth it is my opinion.

i know I'm just saying you can't have an opinion yet :P
who knows, maybe the lucid hydra will perform great, and the SLI scaling will be awesome, maybe the base clock can get to 450+, etc etc, so you can't really say its not worth it until you really know everything about it.
How much is it going to be anyway? £250?
What are those things called that can be found generally on the front of the case they tend to display temps and so on? ._. can't find them :(

LCD Panels ?
Google for crystalfontz or Matrix Orbital
Yeah they kinda look like that, thank you.

there are also specific one's from various companies like thremaltake, coolermaster, Akasa, Aerocool, that are for fan and temperature control mainly also you'll find them on the likes of Silverstone's HTPC cases ;)
I plan to get a coolermaster case so I guess I'd be looking at the coolermaster displays :D

I think the crystalfontz or Matrix Orbital ones are the most adaptable, i've got at least one MAtrix Orbital one kicking around here somewhere, and i might get a crystalfontz one for my machine
