Hi all,

Looking to build a new duo system for a mate who is on a budget - was looking at this https://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=23826 which says its only compatible with the Intel 975X, 965 Chipset.

Most of the cheaper 775 mobos say they are dualcore compatible but dont have the Intel 975X, 965 Chipset - so im a little confused, so if anyone can point me in the direction of the cheapest mobo that will work with this cpu i would be most grateful

Ta very muchly!

The 965 and up are the ones that have Dual Core support built in straight out of the box from Intel. But if the manufacturer has tweaked another platform enough, it is possible to run a Dual Core cpu on something other than a 965/975.

My E6400 is running on a 945G platform, and works very nicely! And is also overclocked to E6600 speeds. It really depends on what the manufacturer has done to it! If it says it will support Dual Core, then it will. But you just need to read up on it to make sure it will support Core2Duos as well as Pentium Ds.
