Instead of building a media centre pc for my lounge, I am thinking of getting a seamless wireless hmdi streamer to stream the output from a second graphics card in my main pc to the lounge.

I have a radio frequency keyboard that has a built in mouse and is capable of typing from multiple rooms in my flat.

I could then concentrate on making one ultimate powered pc that can be controlled from any room rather than a few drones and a hub pc.

I am full of bad idea's is this one of them? :D

FULL 1080p streamers seem to be about £600 and 1080i £300-350 both will send remote control signals with them for media centre remotes. These are new devices so i am hoping more will come out and the price will drop soon.

A cheaper option is something like this

http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Powerful+1080p+HD+Media+Player+Enclosure+?productI d=39153

It can stream from the hard drive of your remote PC and can be used with an optional wireless card if you don't want to use cat5e/6 or home plugs

Oh its getting extremely good reviews over at the AVforums

Doesn't really have enough functionality for me. If i wanted to take my work into the lounge this wouldnt be able to cope. Id probably end up buying a laptop as well and spending more money :p

ok, fair comment.

well, I know it's not what you want but you would be better off with an HTPC and if required use an RDP connection to your main PC for work.

Would be cheaper than your HDMI streamer.

Yeah I think your right

Just like the idea of streaming it to the other room, probably a fad idea :)
