Heh.....love it....reckon its gonna be a hot box that one, EZ cool 700w might cope for a bit...I'll give it 4-5 wks till its first moan/sulk, prolly only be the PSU that gives in though so no biggie new PSU every 5 wks, sorted.

Nice plan though...

Please keep us informed on its progress, Im willing it to live!!!!

HI there all !

Thats my box there and I must say that in fact it's not that hot and the continuous is only 300W which both my power meter and UPS both confirm.
Either way I'm beefing that PSU so there's two of the blighters not least now I have more Molex connectors and thus less (rather counterintuitively) wireing and that wiring is MUCH simpler to keep clean rather than doubler Heaven as it is now!

For anyone who cares the system runs Linux (fedora core 5) and exports the file system to both all my UNIX boxes and my Windows Lumps via SAMBA.

My friend has a much bigger server named \"SLIM\" take a look at the link

What ISP are you both with then because most ISP dont allow you to turn your pc into a server and use there connection.

The server only provides files for my own network so my ISP has nothing to worry about in this instance!
I'd wired the house with CAT 5 when I moved in and have a rack and patch panel which everything plugs into so everything is sweet !

Funny Enough I totally agree

I'm running Lucene and Nudge to scan and index my filesystems.
It's like having a mini Google in your own box :)

That would be pretty strange, as olde El is actually older than me, believe it or not :o

I could be his good looking twin

Hi all!
\"Pimp RIG!\".
How about my old Sun E3500 was described as a deskside server, makes a thunderous noise and eats Kwh like mad (yum yum).
6 CPUs and 6GB of RAM but the 10 HDD's only give it 180GB in total, a whole load of networking and Fibre hardware on the back makes it an interesting beast.

At 75 KG it's only a tiddler but it took two people to get it into the house

It's an addiction thats got to stop...Aghh

Sorry Dude ..Can't hear a word you're saying!
It's more of a small Jet noise than a diesel.

It's also great to put on in the garage just before you go in to take the chill off
