View Full Version : Unusual build need advice
I have been asked to put together the following
CPU any 2.5 to 3ghz
2gb ram
Nvidia 8600gt
Windows 7
200gb hard drive
dvdrw
very wierd spec especially with windows 7. however that are adament thats what they want. now its a friend of a friend thing so i have no direct contact and with them to explain the fact some of its outdated and there are alternatives but hey its there money.
Can any one spec me those components and a cheapo case to
Any idea what they're using it for?
Might give guys ideas as to whether they can scrimp and save on certain bits...
What sort of budget are they looking that?
sounds decent but if they want any latest games and going forward i wouldnt have the 8600gt but if its just for video and bluray usuable then yes keep it. i d say try for ddr3 ram but if on budget ddr2, and i d say try for a quad core but dual core be ok.

The above would perform reasonably but I'm still curious as to why 8600gt?? 9500gt is the same card with a die shrink just about so you could get that.

just the other end Intel system with 9500 added ;P
so you take that as a base then its just desided if prefer a decent PSU over the supplyed with case and what Mobo maker/features makes the most sence
for price id take the athlon quad for like 10/20 cheaper
i would still change the PSU thow as the ones that come with cases work ok for a few weeks, then they tend to blow up or fail and take out the motherboard ETC...
