As theres a lot more people on here now i thought it a good idea for there to be a thread about what CPU cooling people are using and how it does, for future buyers.

I suggest we all go with Coretemp using the high and low for each core at 0 (desktop idle) & 100% load (5 minutes of Prime or CPU tests).

I have a Pentium Dual Core E6300 @ 3.5Ghz @ 1.2875V

OCZ Gladiator Max Core 1 37C idle 40 Load
Core 2 37C idle 41 Load

Xigmatek Red Scorpion Core 1 36C idle 37 Load
Core 2 36C idle 37 Load

The Xigmatek fan is also quieter, although both Coolers seem abit overkill. The new PDC range don't generate alot of heat at all.

I would run IBT or Linx if i was you and take the reading after 5 passes while still on 100% load as that temp difference between idle and load is impossible unless prime has stopped.

Sounds like you have the same issue as me... stuck sensors! my PDC E6300 Idles at 35/39c and id full load about 43 when it was under loads

Wl is spot on, intels 45nm cores (775) seem to have more sticking cores than working ones.

the problem is intel designed the sensor for load temps so it only needs to work right at higher temps not low, idle temps. the further away from the TJmax the reading is its also less accurate too.

this issue is more noticable with 3rd party coolers as they idle even lower than the stock blower. of my 4 cores only 1 is fully working as 2 stick @32c and the other is @36c while right this second my working core says it 26c yet all 4 are within 1c under prolonged full load.

edit

yea :o i have an ifx-14 with a 1600rpm sflex fan in the middle;

@4.4ghz on 1.45vcore, idle 30c(going off the 1 core mentioned above) and fully loaded i hit about 70c.
@3.6ghz on 1.168vcore idle 26c load 45c.
but ambients play a huge part on air cooling, my room temp is normally about 24c.

Q6600, stock Intel Cooler. Coolermaster Stacker case with the vertical fan that blows air under the motherboard, with a large rear exhaust fan as well. Ran stock at 48degrees, and I don't understand the concept of an 'idle' CPU. I suppose it's idle for milliseconds when it changes from one Boinc work unit to another :lol:

I should get my RMA board back today, so can finally post pics.

TRUE With noctua push pull (in sug) idles around 35 & peaks around 60 on a Q6600 @3.6.
Same for the Tuniq but it peaked a bit nearer 70

Freezer 7 made it to 3.4 peaking at 70

Stock cooler made it to 3.0 peaking at 70

I kind of don't like going over 70 temps wise.
