After i ordered my new sata hard drive http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=23864, i am now in a pickle about setting one up, as i have always used IDE drives. Could you guys help me out. I just want to install a fresh copy of windows xp Pro onto it.

Thanks very much

How difficult it is depends largely on your motherboard/BIOS I think.

With an older computer you'll need to copy the SATA drivers from the motherboard setup disk to a floppy and install them when prompted at the beginning of the xp installation.

If your board is quite recent it shouldn't require this and the process is indistinguishable from installing to a PATA drive.

I think Its F6 just as the install disk is loading ( watch the bottom row )

If you aren't setting up a raided boot disk just treat it like a normal hdd as in connect it all up and run the windows disk. At least thats all i had to do on my new build. No press \"Whatever\" to install drivers etc etc.

Thanks guys so far for your input,
My motherboard is a ASRock 775DUAL-VSTA
So as i take it, it's just like setting a IDE drive, i have looked at the motherboard mannual, and it says i don't need to make a disk unless i want to use Raid, by the way whats Raid ?

Thanks very much again
