OK, bit of a vague question but i have the following rig

i5 750
asus p7p55d le
g.skill 2000mhz 4gb c9
etc

From what i understand, ram frequencies as default are set to 1333mhx max on processors of 2.66ghz or less like the i5, and that capably faster ram will de-clock(?) to that frequency

However, i am also told that my system should be able to run the ram at higher frequencies and remain stable.

My question is how do i go about setting this up ?

Currently i have Intel speedstep enabled which lets the OS dictate cpu speeds through AIsuite etc, does this automatically alter ram frequencies inline with cpu speeds ?

Its a minefield i dont want walk through really but ive got the kit now, i should be using it

if its just your ram you want to increase you should be able to do that in the ai tweaker section of your bios by changing the dram frequency setting.

but i think you really want to clock your whole system  go on you know you want to :D

i know a few guys here have i5 so im sure they can tell you in seconds but from what i understand this i7 ocing guide (http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/22106-core-i7-overclocking-guide-beginners.html) should point you in the right direction.

There is a multiplier setting in the bios which raises the memory speed ;)

(Will see if i can find a screenshot)

there are no multiplyer settings for ram on asus boards..

You can manually set the ram frequency to whatever the dimm will do as far as i know, you can also link cpu ratio/BCLK to ram frequency to change it that way.

Rainsing the BCLK to 200 and lowering the multiplier to 9 for a 2.8g cpu sets the ram to 2000mhz, but thats just adding pressure to the board from what ive read, so im sticking to default i5 clock speeds and underclocking the ram to 1333mhz to gain some kind of stability.

Also removed AIsuite etc so theres no gimpy OS overclocking going on.

Blasphemous, running an i5 at stock!!! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/mac124/smilies/thumbsdown.gif

Just the thought of it makes me shudder.
