Anyone on O2 Broadband?

I'll be moving house soon and Virgin Media frankly suck a lot - rubbish reliability, and utterly useless tech support.

O2 keep winning awards, don't apparently have usage caps and use UK-based tech support. Anyone think they're as good as their reputation?

I am on it, got there £7 a month package as already an O2 customer and very happy with it.

Just go to a store pick up one of the home broadband packs, about £14, set it up and then about a week later your online and surfing for very little money per month. :)

Yeah I'm on O2 with my iPhone too, another reason I'm thinking about it. Wish their 3G coverage was better though. :D Cheers Gibbo. Any idea if they cap downloads each month, or is it properly unlimited like Virgin? (Although Virgin limit speeds at peak hour :mad:)

yes on o2 sig pics ;0 its run by Be Unlimited for 17 a month pro package (enter a O2 contract or pay as you go mobile number at check out get discount deal ;) ) lol beats virgin haha used to have virgin media when was in manchester like 10 months ago

the main difference between them .... Be give you a web control panel that if u search up guides on info u can tweak your connection at there end to suite ur needs .... and O2 dont give you that end but O2 do the money off deal for mobile customers

My mum's on O2, I'm constantly called up to give her help with her wireless, but I think that's because of her terrible PC. I recently tried to pimp it up and realised it could only handle up to 2GB of DDR RAM *sigh*

Have to say though whenever I've not been able to solve the problem over the phone she's phoned Customer Support and they've always been helpful. Never had any problems with getting anything fixed. Plus, the O2 box looks kinda sexy and has decent signal coverage. You could do worse :D

Virgin Media cable are meant to be fine. I take it your on ADSL then?

Yeah my grandparents had big problems with Virgin.

They took out 10 meg broadband and were barely scraping 3. Disgraceful.

I'd defo with o2. Was previously with Be and counld fault them, but now with o2 due to the low price and they are just as good. Excellent dl speeds, currently on 8meg and downloading up to 800kb/s any time of day and as el wayneo says no cap.

I just moved from virgin 10mb to o2 20mb, tbh i liked virgin more for gaming, my ping was always better, and i never suffered from any drop outs.

On the other hand i hated them capping my speeds after downloading what seemed like nothing, (full details here - http://www.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.php).

I love the fact with o2 i don't have to leave my pc on overnight just to download a game over steam or any other large file to avoid the capping, it's brilliant so far. I did have to find a few fixes to get some games on steam working online as the connection kept dropping and the box would reset itself, but i believe that is directly down to the wireless box II they give you which can always be replaced.

And last but not least, using quidco and by already having an o2 phone contract, this has cost me £0 for the whole year, now you can't complain with that can you!

O2 are fine as long as you are not forced to the BT-wholesale Access package (ie small exchange not yet unbundled).

Since I moved its a choice of BT or VirginMedia Cable :(

Some thing i found out if you loose the Setup CD they supply you can Downlaod it from O2 website ! + that cd image is apparently kept more uptodate with firmware updates for there routers not tried it out as i bourght a new router with 1gb eth ports ;P

i seem to get faily good pings in tf2 lowest i ve seen it was 15 to 20 on a UK server

Check you are LLU for O2 / Be on samknows website before ordering. If so then there really can be little reason not to use them. If you are an O2 customer and use Quidco it is basically free for the best broadband I have used.

I used Quidco to get £100 cashback (still waiting for) got 2 months free and then 10 months at £10 a month for the Premium package.

Pretty much works out free! and have no complaints about the service either

I have the same package as gibbo, it's amazingly good. Ok , I am miles from the exchange so I am only getting 6meg, but it never drops out which is what i really care about. Hopefully this post isnt me cursing anything :ss

I'm another one with thumbs up for O2, connection is solid, up & down, can max out my line at any time of the day (especially if I am browsing usenet) ;)

Several months in a row I've hit over 300GB of downloads (linux distros.. obviously) ;)

Support answer the phone almost instantly, and to top it all off it's an 0800 number!!

I left Virgin for O2 and have never looked back, absolutely the best ISP I have ever used.

Big bonus was my contract was up the other day, so I phoned them to see if there was anything I needed to do to renew, there wasn't but because I called to check the customer support guy gave me the current offer on a new contract of 3 months free.!!

You seriously can't go wrong if you are LLU, and no I don't work for them, I am just VERY satisfied. :thumb:

Been with o2 fora bout 2 years nearly now, before that I was with zen, perfectly happy with them, they even said dont bother upgrading as the speed increase wouldnt be enough. Works wonderfully and Ive never managed to find a cap ever....

I actually am i technical advisor for a isp myself and am be o2 and they are bay far the best. well o2 and bethere. same network. most of my tech colleagues i work with oare on eithe be or o2....
