REALLY picky niggle here, wondering if there's a fix.

I moved my desktop icons (lots of 256x256 game icons) to my SSD so they appear much faster when windows boots. The silly thing is, they do this, but then I hear the HDD access the .exe files for some reason, and they all reload again much slower!

I don't know if there's any way to stop this, and it's not the end of the world, but seems like a bit of a stupid way for Win 7 to do things - it's already loaded the icons, why do it again when it looks at the .exe on my HDD?

Er, might just have answered my own geeky question! http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-5164407.html

Let me know if any of you know a different solution though, it does seem odd that it loads them twice at boot up.

Are you saying that once you've PC has booted completely your hearing the HDD thrashing straight after you click?

Not to patronise you but;
Is there a chance you've only moved the shortcut to the file?
Most of my desktop icons are shortcuts, as the real file(s) are located elsewhere.

Edit: I don't think I read your post right :o
