View Full Version : Time online app
Hi all,
Is the an app that can gather info from my router (or any other way) & tell me how long each PC/connected device in the house has been on the internet per day.
The kids are turning into spuds & we want to limit PC/Xbox 360 use if they are over doing it. Throw them out with a football like the good old days ;). I don't want to be a nazi & check where they browse or anything like that, just time online.
Cheers in advance.
Router is D-Link dir 615 (might be 635 cant remember) on a Virgin 50meg connection....if that is relevant.
Hey,
To set the Family Timer for your 360:
Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
Select Family Settings, Console Controls.
Enter your pass code, if one is set.
Select Family Timer, then select Daily or Weekly for the time range.
Move the left stick to increase or decrease the time limit for the selected time period, then select Continue.
Select Done. You will be prompted to set a pass code if you don't have one.
Select Yes, save changes.
so does that close the xbox after a set time?
It's just that we have 2 lads using it & if one has more than the other.....well you know what will happen there lol.
and also;
for the PC try this;
1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Click Run
3. Type CMD in the Open textbox and click OK
4. In the command window type:
net user accountname /times:M-F,8am-8pm; Sa,8am-5pm;Su,8am-1pm
replace accountname with the accountname!
Week days should be M,T,W,Th,F,Sa,Su
Times need to be without spaces and with am+pm values.
Hope that helps :)
well it will come up with a message alerting you that times about to run out,
you have then the option of entering in your parental code and extending the time.
I used to use this and found it pretty darn good, if you don't want to faff with your router:

Will try the suggestions & see how it goes. Cheers all.
You can set the times to work for each of their profiles I think, so that should stop one getting more time over the other - unless they start using each others' profiles... something which the other would quickly notice! :P
They often share profiles which helps them level up (their words not mine).
