View Full Version : Paypal?
As this been discussed or even in the pipeline?
I bet there are quite a few others like me who always use paypal, i'm forever buying and selling stuff i dont need and it's just easier/quicker to leave the funds in paypal :(
I think this has been discussed to death tbh. it's always on the cards at Aria and from my understanding until it becomes more secure I dont believe it's something there overly keen on.

Paypal not secure? First i've heard.
I can't see many benefits for aria themselves, costs would be high and they've coped without it for years. However, it does help when you have funds in a paypal account and need something quickly.
Could be something to consider, but there are more important things to deal with first IMO.
more hassle than its worth, chargebacks, stolen credit cards, fees

Thats the magic word...Chargebacks!!!
Can't stand paypal personally, bank's much quicker and easier to trace to a company.
Each to there own i guess but nevermind, I just wanted to know if it was in the pipeline so i could take advantage of some of the good deals here

Ofcourse. They still get charged for receiving money, albeit less than a normal user would.

With paypal being so big now i'm sure it would attract more business overall which helps make it worthwhile?
People with Paypal are likely to have debit cards but I suppose if the demand is there and it doesn't cut into the profit margin too much with added charges it would be a nice feature to have..
Not as nice as free delivery though :P

I don't think there is much that can beat free delivery
I guess they could always run a trial period on paypal if they're already working on it, personally i think it will be worthwhile but to be honest, i don't know much :chairfall:
Paypal is more convenient than a card payment. I always use paypal on my steam account so I'd welcome it here too.

Paypal = Aaron's money going here:D
I've bought by card from here, but paypal just seems like a good introduction.
Paypal is handy if you trade alot on **** also so you may have cash in your paypal account which is why alot of people like to use paypal...
When i said secure i was referring to charge backs etc... Paypal is to quick to with hold cash if there's a problem or dispute before getting the true facts.
Luckly enough i've never had any probs using paypal but i know plenty of people who have.
but hey if it generates more business then you gotta take the rough with the smooth.

We'll make it a priority then guys
as a consumer I don't like the charging structure, and I hate that it's linked to the auction site. So they only allow paypal as an option, so they take a % for the payment, a % for the auction. It actually promotes throwing stuff away as after costs things worth less than the price of a pint are simply not worth selling.
As a business user, Google Checkout has been more helpful, has better 'stronger' security checks as it's straight from card. Add to that the advantage of 0% fees when you also use adwords and it's a very easy to see business model. Paypal chargebacks, I've heard so many horror stories. It's far too easy to validate an account, load up and buy like crazy. So much that many of the sites that sell things like phishing kits and other naughty items no longer take paypal. When the scammer is scammed and stops using a system, businesses should take note.
I'm highly amused that the latest 'protection' offer from paypal offers a download of some software to protect the user. Very bad practice, it's so easy to scam and if a major site does it, then it must be safe, right?
/edit I just went hunting for the software, follow these steps and ask yourself should you trust Paypal.
Click the link https://www.paypal.com/pcicompliance
bottom of page, click the secure link to the software they offer to assist you in being secure, the one with https for ScanAlert ....
then chuckle, close your browser as the SSL cert fails, and watch the kickback as you notice the affiliate/referral link ......

Yay! My day has been made!:D
EDIT:
DT; Paypal may not be liked by people. But the fact of the matter is more means of payment means more sales? Right?. From a business and customer point of view, paypal is great.
The money made on Members Market here can be used here too. Good business sense!

sales is not the important line in business, it's profit. Opening yourself to a greater fraud risk can affect the bottom line, and that's the important bit, not just raw turnover.

Any update on this, i can see the pros and cons for having it but like others i sell a bit on the fleabay etc and use it as a little piggy bank :) im currently waiting for some funds to go into my bank and then i may invest in the SSD ive been going on about :)
I used to use another supplier specifically because the accepted paypal, so when someone paid me, I could use the money straight away. Great for my cash flow. However I came back to Aria due to bad service from the other company.
As a trader I know about the drawbacks of Paypal from that side of things, but I would love to be able to pay with my paypal balance again and think it would be a really welcome addition from a customers point of view.
PayPal would be a nice addition, but as DT said it could cause issues.
A friend of mine deals in PayPal (sure he gets paid that way ) so it'd be of big interest to him!
