View Full Version : Trade Forum
Dear Lucy,
Can we have a trade forum on here please?
I have a full pc to sell and i could sell this as a full pc or just as components.
Also gives other people to sell/trade there things that other Aria members may want.
Also do Aria buy pc's?
I agree it would be a good idea and have been pushing fr a 2nd hand section myself. Lucy is having words with the powers that be regarding this atm.

tbh you should take your ad down until it is approved
A little Cheeky asking and doing at the same time :P

what ad? i dont see an ad??
The subject has been debated and the verdict is in... It's a no I’m afraid :( If we were to set up a Trade Forum, we would without doubt need/like to take full responsibility for all trading regulations and actions. Unfortunately, we do not have the systems in place or the moderators available to ensure safe trading over the forum at the moment.
There have been suggestions about us giving the go-ahead but stepping back and letting you guys take chances on products yourselves but if a negative seller did use our forum to shift lots of possibly faulty goods, not only would we instantly become involved (as it is our official forum) but I and the rest of the Aria-bods in the office would not be very happy!!
I would have liked to action this for you guys but the problem is that as nice as our little community is at the moment, it’s our responsibility to guard the Forum away from negative activity and the negatives far outweigh the positives for both us and you I'm afraid.
Sorry guys!
Lucy

Ive mentioned this one before earlier in the thread,
what about adding a sentence to your sig, like>> PM Me to see my for sale Items.
Maybe even sumit like>> PM Me your email address for my for sale Items.
If your Clever/ish you could even hyper link the sentence to an Imageshack hosted picture/description of your item/s.
All transactions are then the sole responibility of the trading bodies, payment and delivery can then be thrashed out between the two parties, this way only the sellers/buyers are involved, and keeps the matter all squeeky clean on the part of this forum its users and owners.
Plus it saves our forum looking like Fricken swap shop.
would this activity, be acceptable for all parties?
Mighty...
Hi,
As Lucy has pointed out they dont want to see any sort of traading on the forum, and as you have said putting somthing in the siggy someone emails you for the items and then pays for the item but the person doesnt get the item, no doubt that the buyer will make a new topic on here not to trust that user and will probley ask if Lucy can ban him etc...
As Lucy has said this is a nice little community and i dont think Aria want people complaining about Trade issues that have come from this forum.

I have 3 kidneys for sale
Initially I thought the same..
Yeah, it should be OK, transactions organised and prices sorted between the members, even through PMs.. but the fact still remains that if we give the go-ahead, we are instantly partly responsible for this trading which WILL at some point result in complaints :?
Personally, I would have no problem with regulars swapping and trading but if I did go ahead, step back and give the thumbs up. (At first it'd be cool!.. ) But you can guarantee a new member that isn't 100% clear on the set up will come along, buy second hand and not get what they want. It would be a big operation to moderate too, especially if this place keeps on growing!!
I'm as sorry as you are that it's a no but I don't really have any other choice!

Bah down with the killjoys.
Seriously though there are forums out there a hell of alot bigger than this one that are directly linked to online retailers where it works just fine. Stick a few strict rules in and there will be no issues what so ever.
At the end of the day its a transaction between two private parties and i see no reason why Aria should be involved at all if it all goes pear shaped. If i buy something from the local paper that turns out to be faulty i don't get the paper involved do i? No i go direct to the other party or the rozzers if it goes that far.
Hi,
Going off what Lucy has said that she wouldnt mind regulars trading on here, why not Make the forum but do it so only a Special Member Group can access it, like for people who have over say 300 posts or somthing.
But then still you still got that odd chance of someone complaining, and also you would have to check the member out to make sure all this posts where not just spam messages to be able to sell his/her fake item on here.
It could go either ways really, but we would ALL have to keept an eye out on new members for spam, we could be named TRADE BUSTERS !

I dont think its going to go ahead whatever, which is a shame as I think it could work well. The only way I could see it working would be to have a hidden forum area open to certain members that have proven themselves to be an asset to the forum and have proven themselves trustworthy. On top of that, there would also have to be some sort of agreement that is accepted when you try and use the forum area - maybe an accept/decline question or terms and conditions type thing, which would have to be agreed to every time you entered that area.
Thats the only way aria could really cover themselves without actually getting a written and signed agreement from each of us!
And anyway - if people REALLY want it to go ahead, whats to stop one of us installing forum software on one of our own webservers and letting the interested and trusted people know a private address to get to it? Same group of people able to trade with each other, but completely separate from aria. Anyone want to take the risk? ;)
