Is this spec ok? Do I need an SLi PSU? and on-board GPU...

First of all will this lot play nicely together?

CPU Fan: Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 AMD Aero Flower CPU Cooler
Mobo : Gigabyte GA-M57SLi-S4 Socket AM2 PCI-E 16x SLi / DUAL CH DDR2
RAM : Kingston 1GB Kit DDR2 PC2-6400 CL5 KVR800D2N5K2/1G Non-ECC 800MHz (2x 512mb)
GCard : Sapphire RADEON X1650 PRO 256 MB GDDR3 PCI-E DUAL-DVI-I
CPU : AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600 Retail AM2

Secondly, am I right in thinking this isn't an SLi graphics card and therefore I don't need an SLi psu? (and even it was Sli, I'd only be getting one of them). I'm wondering if I could get away with an old 500w antec I've got stashed.

Thirdly, any recommendations on an AM2 mobo with on board GPU (under £100)

I'm not going to be playing games or anything heavy on it, mostly video editing, surfing and work.

Hi Aaron

Your right that the Graphics card is not SLI, and if you plan on only using one card it wouldn't matter.

Ref the PSU is it 24pin or the older 20pin?
Really you need a 24pin/ATX2 PSU

with regards to the memory, personally I would go for more, you can't have to much when it come to Video editing

The general consensus these days is Intel Core2Duos out perform AMD 64 X2's, and this is from Die hard AMDers :shock:
Historically Intel have been favored for 'productivity' ( photo Video, Sound etc ) as they were very good number crunchers whereas AMD were always very popular for Gaming, as they had pure speed ( less latent ), but Intel seem to have won everyones hearts with the Core2Duo

I'll be getting one new large HDD (or maybe stripe a couple of smaller ones together), plus my old burner and dvd-rom drives, so it shouldn't be under too much stress.
I think I'll take your advice and downgrade the graphics card (or find an on-board) and spend the savings on more RAM as Firerat says.

I'm pretty sure I saw the extra 4 pins, but I'll double check before I put in an order.
I'll put the gfx savings toward some extra RAM, and take a look at the Intel chips. At the very least that'll open up a few more mobo's with on-board graphics.

I'll post back when I have made a few more decisions!

Why do you need onboard and a normal gfx card? Oh and the 7300gt is a corker of a card and will probably be almost as powerful as the 1650pro.

Not gaming , so dosn't need a fancy graphics card


system is for Video editing, and general office type stuff

I don't do games Either, so I just have an ATI X300 256MB PCI-E
