SATA 1 SATA 2 ??

I have two slots on my asrock motherboard for SATA drives the spec says that the current SATA interface allows up to 1.5 Gb/s data transfer rate.
My question is will a SATA2 be compatible or will I have to track down a SATA1 drive??

It should automatically work at 1.5GB/s but if it doesnt, then you need 2 put the speed limiter jumper on.

Thanks guys I was in two mind as to whether they were backwards compatible or not.
