View Full Version : 4.1GHZ STABLE!!
Well, my new C3 came yesterday, and it's much different than my last. I can get 3.8GHZ stable on stock volts.
Anyways, took a little effort, but here I go with 4.1GHZ stable, 2 hours stress test using AMD's over drive stress testing.

And now I'm going for 4.2GHZ.
That is awesome! How are temps and what is your cooling?
Maxed at around 60C.
I'm air cooling with a T.R.U.E black
I have the same cooler, overkill even with 1.55v at 3.5ghz.

Very nice :)
Just thought I should update you on my Scythe Mugen 2.

I'm now using Artic Cooling MX-3 thermal paste and push and pull fans :) and a side window :D

Sorry...my phone let me down :(
I'm currently just leaving it at 3.8GHZ at 1.375V.
I know it can get 4GHZ stable, but it's pointless when I can game and max 43C at 3.8GHZ, losing no performance due to my resolution lol.

Fair enough, but aren't those things like 3.6ghz stock, do you really notice a difference

I have to say, that's pretty nice Will.
I've had my Q6600 stable at 3.6 before, but iv been having a little trouble keeping it stable at 3.4 of late, I stupidly reset my bios a few months ago and ive never got it right since, which is a tad annoying
does look nice that will :)
how was the mx3 to apply? runny or real think?
run a real torture test like linx or prime too m8, somthing that everybody uses :)
its the reflection on your window thats doing that to your phone m8, too much detail for it to capture, either take it with no light behind you or take the side off and it should look better :)

3.4GHZ on stock. So running 3.8GHZ on stock voltage is pretty impressive lol.

What settings did you change except CPU voltage and multiplier for overclocking?

That was running Prime95 and the mx3 was sorta like average viscosity...I'd say thicker rather than runny though.
Just played 2 hours of borderlands at 4GHZ.
I'd say it's pretty stable.
My true sits there so cool, it runs at about 40 degrees on full load 1.55v 3.5ghz. The 1.55v was purely to test how much volts it could take. I reckon i could do 1.65v safely.

It's not stable until Prime 95 says so ;)
Edit: Just been reading some new things as I didn't really understand overclocking and now 3.8Ghz is looking stable...I WANT 4GHz!

Meh.
It's stable, if it games at 4GHZ with no BSOD's, it's stable lol.
if you can leave it folding for weeks on end its stable if not, its not.
i say that as its the most cpu intensive thing i use, if gaming is the hardest your going to push your box then thats all it needs to do too imo.
400mhz increase for 0 voltage is nice but i get a 1000mhz increase for 0 voltage and a 800mhz increase for -120mv :) i know its apples and oranges but still.
ty will :D have you had a look in that thread on oc.net i showed you? those guys know your mobo better than most m8.

No wheres the link?
I was actually using this
http://www.techreaction.net/2009/05/28/phenom-ii-am3-overclocking-essentials/
Help to diagnose OC failures. Seemed like the intergrated memory controller was the weakest link.
i posted it in a thread where you was on about not knowing what was what in your bios, hang on and i will pm you it.
Very helpful thanks will.

I'm currently trying to get 3.8GHz stable on my Phenom II 720.
On Prime 95 core #1 & #3 are still working but core #2 has stopped does that mean it's probably the weaker core?
right you should :D p35 and a 45nm duo is the perfect combo imo
stick your true on it, give it 1.45v core and get 4.5ghz

Any on another OverclockingUK place.

Funnily enough, I agree with that...
Although I have no idea how you managed to squeeze so much out of your 8x00 chips!

That means stripping down my P45 system too

voltage my man, it is the cure to your problems but also your cause.
i ran (f@h) that 8200 on 1.4vcore for ages at 4ghz and its still runs as stable, fast and cool as ever.
i would of gone higher with it but my ram wont go above 540 but if it did it would.

how on earth are you managing those temps??
arctic cooling MX-3 ftw.. i love the stuff... you can eat it you know..
seriouslly on my cooler @ max with Mx-3 on my 955 @ stock i hit 43 degrees at 100% load.. then again my room is pretty warm...
hoping things will improve with a mega shadow in push pull though
sounds like a great rig - well done!!
Very nice temps on that system.
Can't wait to start dabbling with my i7 920 & the Corsair H50-1 to see what I can get out of it.
Must find a decent guide for 920 clocking :D

My ambient temp is 20C, using MX-3 paste :D and well the Mungen 2 is MASSIVE! Much larger surface area than any cooler (I am using push and pull btw).
thats quite an impressive overclock but a vapour chill would get you 4.6GHZ - 4.8GHZ but its very expencive, but well done on the overclock.
