Hey guys,
Right, ive used one of these for a day (borrowed) and spent most of my day with my jaw down and drool running out of my mouth, on paper the specs are amazing, the menu and system in general is fast, fluid and smooth and its got the benefit of being able to run virtually all of the vast windows mobile apps around ...
Im looking at getting one to replace my TyTN II, really need an activesync enabled phone (for exchange email pushing) combined with something that acts as a bit of a mini browser and all round media device.
Before anyone says it, I wont touch an iphone with a barge pole, used one for a few hours and chucked it back, horrid horrid devices running old tech with a pretty interface, my TyTN II is 3 years old and can do 99% of what the iphone can. I also need turn by turn sat nav (I already own tomtom for windows mobile)
So in short, anyone used a HD2 hands on? Just want to be 100% sure before shelling out £500 on a phone!
Mike

I've got a TyTN II and was considering an iphone next time. I would have to look very carefully at an HD2 first after reading the specs.

Will be looking to upgrade in the early part of next year, my Trion (Tytn1) is showing signs of it's age

I've got a Touch Diamond at the moment.. Runs very similar software, and I'll almost 100% be getting another HTC phone when I next upgrade. If I was going to now, then the HD2 would be my choice :)

I am on my 2nd HTC phone I had an XDA mini S (HTC Wizard) before.
And my Ipaq (2210) was manufactured by HTC too ;)
I like a proper keyboard, and I see now a lot of other manufacturers are offerring them now.
I too will probably stick to HTC in the future
I had the miniS before this too.. :)

Thats what I used mine for, that is appart from phone calls/texts lol.
I use my Trion for more as its 3G and I have an unlimited data plan :D
Ive got the touch hd but defo like the look of this, providing the camera is better (should be as it now has flash) i may get one when my contract is up
I've got one and it is very good. A *lot* faster than my wife's original HD.

I have one too, transferring to the included memory card isn't that fast, but a class 6 memory card should solve that problem.
It's a great phone, only problem I find with it is the lack of choice for good free apps. A problem I hope to solve when I get some idea's and start developing some apps myself. :)
What sort of free apps are you looking for? I have the Touch Diamond at the moment, and have found there are hundreds of them :) I could maybe point you in the right direction if needed :)
I have one and love the speed, and intenet on a 4.3" screen is fantastic, but can't help feeling jealous whenever someone showing me their latest useful iphone app. Now they've announced the definite lack of upgradablility to WP7, I'm awful tempted to sell it on and defect to the iphone....

I was a bit gutted when the WP7 plans seemed to be binned. Some of the details about it that are emerging are really making me think it will be a flop anyway though. For instance one of the "features" is removing support for external memory devices such as SD cards, this is one of the reasons I avoided an Iphone in the first place.
I think I will see what the "new" iphone offers and then decide what to do with my HD2. The current Iphone would feel like a downgrade. Android is alright but not as slick as Apple OS.
my mate's got one...they're pretty decent. a bit chunky and slightly on the heavy side but the screen itself is gorgeous. far better than my iphone's, and running WM7 i think (not sure). but its a pretty slick phone, just wouldnt be your cup of tea if size/weight is an issue :)

Running Win 6.5
Ive got one of these bad boys.
I must say its the best HTC device ive used and ive had many.
At first the Offical Rom installed isnt that gr8, i took it off and went for a Dutty Rom which you can find at www.htcpedia.com (http://www.htcpedia.com) but first you will need the hard spl to change the security that allows to flash.
You can get that from http://www.xda-developers.com/
Mines now running on Windows Mobile 6.5.5 with all the packages updated, this thing is maga fast.
Was a breakthough today, they have now managed to boot some linux code to allow android. Now the leeked wp7 rom has come out expect it to be ported very soon.
So you could say this device has the best of all worlds.
i was playing with one of them today and i agree its a nice peice of kit but i ended up with a desire, seemed the same to use but not as bulky to hold or keep in my pocket and tbh the little bit bigger screen didnt seem to make it any easier to use or view.
arron can you send me some more info on those apps please matey :thumb: as i just gave up on google after spending abit going thru what it threw up.
i was playing with a few phones today and right this second i would say the 4 that stand out as the best are the desire, hd2, n900 and samsung galaxy (i think, its another droid phone tho) and i found it very hard to pick out of them. reasons i didnt pick the others were, i didnt want another nokia, the dt2 was too big and the samsung was white and green. having said that im sure i would be as happy with any of them.
I probably would have gone with a desire if they had been available and a similar price when I got my HD2. Android is going from strength to strength and the new Froyo 2.2 version looks set to be a belter. The linux and Windows 7 developments for the HD2 are interesting, but they are both a long way off being usable.
