was just thinking that these speakers i have are are getting on quite a bit so was wondering is their anything else out their that is fairly cheap and will offer a noticeable improvement. seen both the z-4s and the x-530s for 50 quid and it got me thinkinh just. any opinions? wouldnt want to spend any more than 70 with 50being ideal.

thought about them but dont think it would be worth my while considering the z4s are meant to be much better. was also thinking maybe i should buy a sound card such as a xonar d1 instead as that may be the best option.
Hi, what size room is your PC going to be located in? Also, are you looking for 2.1 or 5.1 sets?
Creative T3100. It is BRILLAINT. Bass is rich and a nice mix with the mid to highs. I'm a sound fanatic :D

as you can see its just for this area. and my room isent all that big either. the T3100s dont really seem to be all that hot either btw, reading from reviews it doesent seem all that good especially considering the z4 can be had for £10 more which seems to attract nothing but praise.
For a room setup of that size, the T3100 would be a good choice, it does give you value for your money. If you were willing to spend a bit more money, the Z-2300 for around £110 would be a great choice.
Second the T3100, the logitech version is the X210 with the X230 being the most popular 2.1 set for around £30.
You won't see much improvement on either of those unless you go 5.1, even then for the desk area it would be a waste of cash.
X230 FTW.

so what do you recommend, sorry but im strugghling to understand what your advising  should i spend big or just stick with what ive got currently?
also if you recommend 5.1, thats fine, im easy either way. what about the logitech x-540s or even the x-530s?
Sorry,
X230 for £30
X530 for £50
either are very good.
All i meant to say was that where are you going to put 5 speakers if you opt for 5.1? You need to get two behind for the proper immersive sound experience, and that if you can't find space to put 5 speakers out properly then its a waste of cash over the 2.1 sets.
Also that you won't see much improvement on either of the 2.1 sets there, if you spend £50 on a 2.1 set.
Sorry but its been a long a week.
Hope this is a bit clearer?

ok, thanks, think il go for x-540s when i get the money gathered, only question left though is what would the biggest improvement, gettin a good sound card and use current speakers or go and get new speakers but using them with onboard?
I would go with speakers, onboard sound has kinda killed off sound cards unless at the real high end. My speakers are over 11 years old, Yamaha ones that cost a packet, 2.1 and produce a nice balanced sound. My PC setup downstairs and through the TV, I like the cambridge soundworks/creative setup, although they do miss a mid range on the 2.1's.
