Hi...Im asking for any advice on behalf of a mate...who has a nice new dell, with a Nvidia gfx card 6800 gt PCI-E ...I think, all was fine, said mate was kicking my Butt on BF2 happily (Dream On) until said card started to freeze up after a few months, after many reinstalls, change of drivers, roll backs, reseats and tears...Naughty card fails to even load drivers now..!

anyone had any similar experiences, Ive heard that Dell + Nvidia are not good bed fellows when PCI-E is used...any help or advice would be greatly appreciated..

(note to self) >>>> Will follow up with accurate machine specs...

Cheers Peepz...Mighty...

Oh and Hard Lines to WestHam...in the cup....( The Thievin Scousers)

Has the heatsink become separated from the GPU core?

Thats pretty much what i was thinking, well overheating, check the temp of the card and if necessary (might be worth doing it anyway) take the card out and blow all the dust n dirt out of the heatsink, you will be shocked how much cr@p builds up on the inside of pc's if they aren't cleaned out regularly and these gfx cards get toasty at the best of times.

Thats what you get for buying a Dell :P

As he has only had it 2months then it still should be under warranty?

Return it.

Lesson learned: Build your own PC.

Whilst i generally agree Belso not everyone has the knowledge / inclination / time / whatever to build their own pc's. Personally the only time i would buy a prebuilt system is for work. I know, you know and probably everyone on here knows that for the same money you could spec and build something better for the same price.

Right...said dude has graphics once more....for some unknown reason..???

Booted from the card...when he got home last night, reinstalled the Dell/Nvid driver, all is good and is now bricking it..to play BF2, which is where the trouble started, I think it may have been a driver revision, within a BF2 patch...BF Patch 1.3 prolly has some shader...gubins added that may have consequently, freaked the card out...

So thanks for the rapid replies as usual guys...you rock. ..and thanks to EA Games...for yet another off kilter..rubbish..Uber.patch...although it works fine on my G foz... and yes...self build is deffo the way...imop!

Greetz Mighty...
