Windows 7 booted up fast enough into the install screen and then left me with a blue background with a wispy flower and the cursor for around 5 minutes with no HDD activity, suddenly the DVD drive fired up again and then gave me the choice of drive to install onto etc. Again I got left for around 3 minutes with no HDD noise or dvd noise.

Then like a rocket the whole thing installed in less than 10 minutes

Did everyone else experience this? Its like it installs most of it silently and tricks you into thinking nothings happening no progress bar etc, then BAM and the rest completes faster than Tystar eats a subway breakfast :beer

Pretty similar, yeah..

Yep.

When I did an in-place install there was a progress bar with the little animated glow which whizzes across to show that there is activity, but after the BSOD and I had to do a clean install anyway, that's pretty much what happened.

Windows is always like that. Sounds like a normal install.
