2nd Monitor Blur

My graphics card has the usual VGA out and DVI out but my monitors don't support DVI so I bought a DVI to VGA Converter (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Name=CON-DVI2AGP) which works... but my second monitor is blury :(

I tried swapping the monitors around to make sure it wasnt the monitors fault but no success. What's the likely cause of the blur? Is it my graphics card or the DVI 2 VGA converter - how can I solve it (without needing to upgrade my monitor please!)?

Have you changed the resolution? default res on 2nd monitor tends to be very low.

Reducing it to 1024x768 (and less) does seem to help a little - although it could just be an illusion because the writing is bigger ;-)

Is the primary output DVI and the secondary VGA? I have 2 pcs connected to my tft and one uses DVI and the other uses VGA and there is a big difference between them, VGA is naff compared to DVI.

The Primary is the VGA which is fine, its the secondary which is DVI converted to VGA which the blury one.

i assume it does it on both monitors if you swap them around?

If so dunno what to suggest, maybe it is the convertor??

aye - swapped the monitors around and the blur moves to the other monitor - so maybe it is the converter - will see if I can get another from somewhere to test with.

blurry picture is always down to naff cable in my experience....

Cables can be a problem - especially if they're too long. Did you swap cables as well as monitors? Are they attached properly? (sorry!)
For what it's worth.....
I abandoned my last CRT monitor because it became blurry. I only ever connected it via the VGA output but I got to the point were it seemed that it would look better if only I could get more contrast adjustment on the monitor(!) MAYBE the DVI output of your card puts a similar limit on screen adjustment in your setup. You don't say what card/chip you're using but the latest nVidia Forceware drivers give some individual adjustment in the Advanced Display Settings that may help to improve the appearance of your \"second\" monitor - just make sure you select the troublesome display first.

I've tightened everything as much as it can go! :D

My graphics card is nothing special so it could be that - m0nk3y is going to lend me another converter tomorrow - see if that can fix it 8)

I had that problem with a hitech (sp? - the hong kong company) radeon 7500. I never did solve it and chalked it down to cheap components on the dvi connector back when dual monitors and dvi was a very expensive luxury and hitech seemed to be more amateurish than they are now.
