AM3r2 due 2011
No info as to if it will be backward compatible.
I've noticed as of late AM2+ dual cores and am2/am2+ cpu's in general have become rare as chocolate fire guards

are you trying to suggest someone has eaten all the AM2/AM2+ cpu's?

Maybe....
Perhaps they end up in the same place that all those old calculators go to

2011 is when bulldozer is due so thats obvious there would be a new socket.. the AM3 r2 or AM3+ as it is likely to be called will likely accept AM3 cpu's.

Hey AM3 is bound to be superseeded sooner or later nothing lives forever especially in silicon world we all move on faster each year. It gets harder to keep up to date every day but we all try thats why we are here so often. Snigger

Goody!! That means AM3 chip prices will drop like a stone and those of us too poor to upgrade recently will pick up a bargain!!

Or they will follow 939 dual cores and command very high prices

Eventually, all out of date kit does this, just look at the price of DDR1 RAM last summer; but for 3-12 months after a new spec board comes out, all the "old" kits get a big discount, sometimes longer.
