The dearest one on that page with @ £1099 with "Excellent graphics capability, " has a GTS 240 too :cop: Some even have a GTS 220. :ss

Call it £400 with a decent board.

So thats £630 without case, throw in a years support and someone to build it £750 ain't too shoddy really.

Fair enough, i am just feeling abit argumentative today.
For a "graphics performance" system the first thing which needs speccing is the GFX card, then build around that. Dell fail at this.

Don't get me wrong I am not a Dell Hater.
Some of their monitors are very good.
I wouldn't be with out either of mine ;)
You can occasionally get some quite good deal on midrange dells which would just be used as a basic workstation, but I agree their 'premium'/gaming PCs leave a lot to be desired!
Well Dells are to save them selves!

Dell monitors are good, no denying that.
Have x2 Dell ultrasharps at work and a very nice Dell ultrasharp at home, 19" with a TN panel which seems to give the colour and viewing angle of a PVA. Very impressive.

I only have a soft spot for these business laptops (best laptops around imo) but otherwise every computer they make is so unbalanced!

They operate a no dead pixel scheme on their monitors, why not laptops?
Iso limits are about 5 dead pixels, and 5 stuck pixels.
We already checked and for laptops they follow the ISO standards. Katie is happy enough despite her dead pixel.
Desktop was out of the question because it had to be portable.
Send it back on 7 day distance selling act, then get another.
I suggested that but Katie is happy enough with it, can't be bothered with the hassle. You can't notice it when playing games anyway.
When you notice you've got a single dead pixel you also know you are VERY BORED.
But - When you DON'T notice a single dead pixel glowing bright white on an otherwise completely black screen, you know there is something wrong with your eyes..

black background = less work for the GPU/Monitor/CPU IMHO
Potentially saves power too! having 1600x1050 pixels all switched on and displaying white surely uses more power than them all being switched off and showing nothing?

My little friend the dead pixel is black and is always noticeable on Firefox. Nifty and I hoped it was a bit of dirt on the monitor glass at first, but it's too stubborn to budge.

Have you tried any of the fixer utilities.. They dont always work, but I've had some limited success with them.. Also, just even rubbing your finger across it hardish can sometimes work..
a pixel exerciser got rid of my single green pixel on my Hyundai
Yeah, I think it depends on the reason for it sticking.. I couldnt get one unstuck on my PSP, but its worked on a TFT I had..

You may laugh but my ex boss had a 17" XPS as his work laptop.
With all the fancy lights.... sooner him than me it was very very heavy
This little black dot appears to float in front of the actual pixels. If you move your head from side to side then it moves in relation to the image so it is above the pixels.
Some odd fault with the glass or some layer above the colour layer of the pixel or something...
Doesn't wipe off and you can't feel it.
I remember a user on here had a small fly stuck behind the panel, someone asked him to take a screenshot :surprised:

I dont think he managed to get it out, as it was actually sealed into the panel during manufacturing as far as I remember.. But the manufacturer wouldnt accept it back as they thought it had happened because he had opened it!

Also much easier to take to LAN parties because I can barely climb three flights of stairs without puffing, let alone carry a desktop system downstairs to my car.
