Looking at building a new rig and got a budget of £550-600.

I've selected a few parts up to now:

Can anyone recommend a good case (preferably with PSU) and a good graphics card for this system???

Or can anyone give me a rough idea of what they would get for this price range? I definately want a Core 2 Duo processor though!!!

Assuming you have cd/dvd drives and OS already, and around your budget, I'd get:

+ the stuff from above.

and nVidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB PCI-E £86.89 inc.

it comes to around £680 including delivery.

Yeah alot of people overlook using a good quality PSU.

Difference:

Bad quality cheap psu fails = Chance to take out any number of other components with it, mobo, hdd's or anything else it chooses to blow while its there. There's no sure way to know, this varies but it can make things pricey.

Good quality psu fails = The psu fails, end of, replace the psu and carry on.

Its upto you, its like a lottery with bad quality psu's failing, you can get lucky and not lose anything else, or be really unlucky and lose the mobo amongst other things. Cheaper to buy a good quality psu in the first place to avoid more cost later.

Of course prebuilt systems don't have as big a 'worry factor' since they are covered by Warranty and can be replaced by more cheapo components, so a small cost for the supplier to pay if they've made a good margin from you to begin with.
