i am looking for a slr for my little sis, she is very good with one but the ones we have are abit big for her smaller hands and i was wondering if anybody knew of one which has a slightly smaller body.

price matters less than the functionality of the unit but like everybody else atm the less it costs the better you nkow :D

Sony A200, cracking bit of kit, amazing price, outperforms the more expensive £400-£500 SLR's and includes a decent lens in the price.

Panasonic Lumix G1 (I think its the G1 anyway..) Very good DSLR camera, but small too :)

You don't need a DSLR to take good photos; just a keen eye and a steady hand.

A200 or EOS1000.

I have the 1000 and it is marginally smaller then the rest of the range.

thanks guys i will look into these :D

@col
i know that but the thing is she already has other compact cameras and she gets better pics than we do :( she wants a "propper" one like us but she struggles with them in her hands.

had a look around and you can get the sony for less than 250 so we might have a winner but that lumix does look like it would fit her hands perfect but then i cant find that for much less than 400.....

grrrr

have to wait and see coz i might have a new job next week and if i do she can have the panasonic as money wont matter then :D i might even get her a 1080 screen to plug her sd cards into to show off her pics :D

Does she DEFINITELY want a DSLR? I have the Lumix FZ18, which is basically what the G1 is based on. The only difference is that it has a fixed lens. But its a 26-504mm (18x optical) lens, so its normally enough for msot situations - but if it ever wasnt, you can get extension lenses to take it up to over 35x optical zoom and/or extras like fisheye lenses etc. Not to mention the fully manual mode of the camera too.

Those were the reasons I went for that camera.. I didnt have enough money to spend on a good DSLR and didnt want a low end one really, I wanted a compact body (the G1 wasnt out then :lol:) but I wanted the ability to use other lenses if needed.. And the FZ18 seemed to tick all the boxes. Might be worth looking at something like that as an alternative? Not necessarily that model/brand, but along those lines? You can get a lot of camera for the money if you don't get a full DSLR :)
