Hi, bit boring this but has any one had problems with The ICY BOX that has USB2 and Firewire the net seems full of bad stories of the firewire chipset not being up to the job and quickly killing off the hard drive. Any recommendations for reliable USB/FIREWIRE enclosures.
Thanks folks

I thought the same untill I found one bad story which led to more and a steep learning curve about chip sets and the difference betweeen firewire and usb2 etc. I'm just looking for some independant info that ICY BOX has fixed the problems

Never heard of any killing hdd's, have heard of 1 or 2 dieing but i believe that was a power supply issue (within the unit not the external psu)

Why do you need firewire and usb?? usb2 is as fast if not faster than firewire.
