Anyone thinking of getting one?

£80 for the x4 620 seems a bit of a bargain to me tbh.

Is there big difference from the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz

Yes its "only" an Athlon not a Phenom so it wont have the extra cache the phenoms do.

Review comparing it to 720/965 and i5 720.

Not bad considering its price.

Is it worth getting one of these new ones because I had my heart set on getting a AMD Phenom II 720 BE.

Works in both am2 and am3 though.

what is it in the AM3 board which stops an AM2 chip physically fitting - yet in an AM2+ board am2+ or am3 cpu will fit?

If it a blanked out pin or something?

Nothing its the lack of a DDR3 memory controller which stops AM2(+) chips working in AM3 boards.

AM3 chips have both a DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller built into them so should work in AM2+ mobo's.

AM3 chips have 1 less pin, which stops them fitting, its only the memory controller, that stops it working, rather than fitting.
