Hi to all, looking for some advise....having just finished my new build media centre pc,all went well installed all components, restarting each time, then went to set up media centre and the pc shuts down???I restart it but now hangs on the maufacturers name for about 4-5 mins then decides to boot up in windows????Before it would show manufacturers name for about 5-10 seconds and boot, not now.
I have tried to reset bios, gone into advance bios and cannot find quick boot,it also appears to be missing options in advance bios(hope that make sense)I now leave the pc in standby as quicker to start.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated :(

By manufacturers name do you mean the bios screen where it does your ram checks etc?

Your event viewer logs for application / system will tell you if its a hardware fault which it might well be becuase of the hanging and the restart.

maybe the ram is loose or something.

Or you might have drive failures and your bios is selected not to show them.

again most of the possible problems will be indicated in your event log, find the red ones and google it.

:? Thanks for advise, the screen where it gets stuck is before bios does its checks,it shows 'Advent',then after awhile goes to bios check and starts to start up.(hope makes sense). All components are new,the ram is all secure, can you please tell me how to get to event log to see what may have caused fault.
This my first bulid and my experience is limited, any advise would be greatly appreciated.....
The only strange thing i have noted, when i go into bios, comparing to the manual supplied, the number of options shown within 'advance'is alot more than in my screen....as if something is missing in bios???The motherboard is P4M-915G/PD1....thanks again

Normally when you get a full screen logo like that it's doing it's POST checks and there's normally an option in the bios to disable that full screen logo and actually see the POST checks that it's doing.
Also, have you plugged a speaker into your motherboard to hear the POST beeps? It might be bleeping like mad ifyou haven't.

As for speaker yes i have, but all ok....I have gone into bios in 'advance'there does not appear to be many options, like the one you refer to.....also Quick boot is not there at all, cauld there be fault with the bios??In which case what do i do,is the unit/motherboard faulty???
thanks
