Hello,

Finally...........................

http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/15434/1/

released 23rd September

HD5870 $399
HD5850 $299

They said that last time and the HD4870 was around £250 - 300.
The HD4850 was around £200.

Specs;

HD5850 http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/15433/1/

Says twice the power of 4 Series, but expect 60% performance gain, as was the same with 4 series over 3 series.

Still rumours of Nvidia GT300 launching earliest Xmas, maybe January, you expect Pre Xmas release because that is a lot of money to miss out on.

IMO the best bet is to wait until the Nvidia GT300 cards launch, check the performance, allegedly they are slightly faster card for card, then watch AMD drop the price as they did last time.

Also by Xmas the 5870 x2 will be out, so prices come down again slightly.

Also AMD has some new super dooper cooling they are trying out........................allegedly.

I think I'll probably get rid of my 4890 and trade it in for one of these bad boys!

What for? A 4890 runs all games on high with AA and AF. It's only the likes of Crysis which needs a better graphics card and it's an old game now which nobody plays much.

Wait for the next gen games before you waste money on next gen GPU's.

More money than sense!

I've seen what the upcoming ATi range are capable of and if the man is able to flog his HD 4890 for a good price and the extra power is justifiable (yes, a lot of if's :D) I'd say these are definitely worth at least waiting for. At any rate, they'll be bringing some interesting features to market. :)

There isn't much firm information about GT300 but my guess is that it will be quicker but a good $100-150 more expensive and probably consume more power.

My statement still stands, there are so few games that can challenge a modern graphics card even at 1650x1080 and above.

I completely agree for the 1680x1050 and below case. :)

When somebody throws a smoke grenade on COD4 my FPS go down to 40FPS :|

40fps is hardly a slideshow though is it?

8400 FTW!

It's still a hit on performance, that shouldn't happen on such a powerful card.

HA HA HA... YOU FAIL AGAIN SHEDFAIL!

When I play cod the fps rarely goes below 60, and only drops a tiny amount when smoke grenades go off

The 5850 probably will be, anything else higher in the range, definately.

It's got 1600 shaders not in xfire, so it will be faster, 27w power idle 181 load, what a card. Eyefinity looks amazing.

Meh, jus bought XFX 4870x2 for £200. So not going to bother upgrading

If fudzilla is to be believed then a 5870 X2 is going to be one seriously hot card!

Right but who exactly needs that card? Nutters on multi-screen 1900x1200.

Maybe DX11 will change things, I don't know, but as long as so many developers design games for consoles first then port to PC we will continue to have stagnated games development in terms of graphics. Have you seen all the Unreal engine clones?!

5870 matches a 295 gtx, and 5850 besting a 285gtx, and xfire 5870 beating 295sli, what a good new set of cards. 27w idle on cards is another bonus.

300W+ under load though...

That's the 5870x2, only if fud is correct, I would say 300w max tbh.
