http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/09/08/intel-core-i5-and-i7-lynnfield-cpu-review/7

They include a Q9650, its 5 fps slower than the i5 750, so add another frame on really, so about 6 fps.

Only about 10 - 15% slower on multi tasks and synthetic benchies aswell.

But if it takes your CPU 35 minutes convert an 8GB DVD then does another 5 mins matter?

If you have a strong dualcore or quadcore then theres no reason (apart from bragging rights to upgrade), unless of course you

a) have loads of cash,
b) own autocad or image edit for a proffesion
c) are Mac124, lol.

Better off saving your dosh for the next big graphics card really, thats where the games performance is.

I was tempted to buy an i5, but with them splitting the pci-e bus when using more than one graphics card, i'll save my pennies and get an i7.

An i5 750 (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+%2F+Processors/Intel/Core+i5/Intel+i5+750+CPU+%5B2.66GHz%2C+Retail%2C+Socket+11 56%5D+?noVat=0&productId=37674) and a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/Intel+Socket+1156/Gigabyte+P55M-UD2+Intel+Motherboard+LGA+1156+Socket+?productId=3 7725) for £230 isn't bad going, I'd be quite happy to spend that!
