View Full Version : SATA hard Drive Problem.....
Hey Guys,
Right so my sisters HD failed few days ago, bought a new Sata HD from Aria yesterday, got it today but have a problem. The SATA Bios can find the hard drive but the Bios setup can not and also the windows installation can not find it either. Strange thing is is when i hit F11 to bring up the Select Boot drive that shows the hard drive but that shows up as IDE ???
Any help?

Which board/chipset?
does the chipset support Sata 300? if only sata 150 set the jumper (if the drive has one) to 150

Ah yea that will be why, hate it when your trying to figure out why something will not work and then its the most obvious thing you havent tried. Grrrrr.... ill do that now.

Lol is it a Via Chipset?
Lol is it a Via Chipset?
What you mean?
Also the hd only has 2 pins and when i learned this i was told leaving them untouched puts them at 300 and pinning them puts it as 150. Now i pinned the jumpers and still the same as before.

hmmm never had any issues with my 939dual-Sata2 and that was only sata 150 (had a Jmicron giving 1 sata 300 port)
The drive is it a jumper or software to switch to sata 150? Many drives now do it in software.
Have you tried a different sata cable?
Or a bios flash
Are you sure your sisters HD failed? Could be a mobo problem instead, did you try her old HD in another computer?
Well actually her hard drive started working again but thought well i bought this and opened it, might as well use it as Aria charge like 10-20% for stuff that isnt faulty to be returned.

I have no idea, all i got was a hard drive but it does have 2 pins so i'm guessing its a jumper to switch to 150. Yes tried another cable and getting the same things.

I think it is not a jumper to change the sata mode!
I think you need to connect it to a different pc and run the Hitachi software
