Hi I'm really hoping someone can help me with this one I'm out of ideas.

I bought a Geforce 7600GS AGP, my old 5700FX is getting a bit dated. Before I swapped the cards over I made sure to unistall all the old 5700 drivers, I swapped the cards over connected the power supply to the new card and installed the new drivers off the CD. Then it got intersting:

Any video play back was upside down and there were too pictures visable

I got repeated error msgs for no OpenGL or Direct 3D support

The sentinal kept telling me that there wasn't any power going to my card

I need some help.

I don't know how it can be the PSU its a 500W and even with everything disconnected apart from the GFX card and primary HDD I still get the low power errors.

system
ASUS A7V8X-X
Athlon XP 3200+
512MD RAM

all the bios and other drivers are up to date

Hi Jamie, welcome to the forums and all that pity it wasn't under better circumstances.

First things first have you tried reinstalling the old gfx card? Does it still work ok?

Second what make psu have you got? Please don't say qtec. There are 500w psu's and there are 500w psu's. If its a generic came with the case psu chances are it wont be a true 500watt psu. Also if you paid less than £30 - £40 for it chances are it wont be a true 500watt psu. I am a great believer of the fact that the psu is one of the most overlooked components in a pc and i shudder when people go out an spend £600 on components for their shiney new pc and spend £20 on a \"500 watt\" psu from the likes of qtec.

If its not psu then it sounds like some kind of driver issue, you upto date on direct x and stuff like that?

Thanks

Yeah I should of put that in my post, i've swapped the GFX cards back and the 5700FX works with no problems at all even on some of my higher spec games, same as b4.

The PSU is a ATX-500TD £45 and its fresh out the box

i'm running direct x 9.0c

ok just a little bit of an update i've managed to get a 600W PSU and I still have the same problem. Also i've made sure that the GFX card has its own lin from the power supply.

Its rated as +12V and 20A if that makes any difference
