Very interesting read....
That's not really anything new to me, articles like this were all over the place when multi-core processing was coming to the mainstream.
What's true then is true now: Multi-Core processing will only take you so far, because of software limitations you can't just keep adding cores.
idd, unless the software is multi core enabled we are still using one core :(
on the plus side some companies are making games etc with multi core now, some like TF2 have now been modified to do use more than a single core.
Tf2 originally used core 1 for gfx, and core 2 for effects. Not sure now.
They really should just work on the programming and program it to treat all the cores the same!
Well alot of the software i use makes use of all four cores
Photoshop
3DS MAX
db poweramp
Our graphics engine uses 2 cores so far
Can't think of anything else, not been on my pc in 3 wekas you know
Photoshop first use past 3 cores mate.
dbPoweramp uses 4 cores?! I might start using that again I think!
Photoshop first use past 3 cores mate.
???
The performance doesnt increase past 3 cores.
Even in CS4?
Even so it, doesnt really need alot of cores when their running fast enough
Im not sure about CS4, but still it runs fast enough on my BEAST
More like your cute little word processor :P
But yours is made by *** to Mouth Daily! :P
At least mine comes from a company not convicted of anti competitive actions, which if they suceeded with, we would all pay over double for our cpus.
