If you are into your gaming you will want a substantially better graphics card.

Minimum really is a HD4850 or GTS250, although it depends on the resolution of your monitor.

Ideally aswell you want a 500W Powersupply, gives you more headroom for upgrades.

I can promise you it will not last 6 years, unless in 6 years tiem you only play games that are 3 years old, if that makes sense. The 4850 should last you like 3x as long as the 4350, the gfx card is where you cannot skimp on price.

like its already been pointed out that isnt a good card for gaming, but what you you should get will be dependant upon your budget. best advice i could give on this is to spend as much on it as you can afford because as far as gaming goes its all about the gpu. best bang for your buck imo is the gtx285 others will say a 4870 but keep in mind that with a gpu you do get what you pay for.

rest of the build looks solid, you might want to look for some ram with tighter timings than the xms stuff. maybe add a better heatsink for the cpu later and dabble with overclocking becasue that board and cpu are just begging for it :D

most 4850s get hot during useage, club 3d has one which is 86 quid and its on aria aswell, it has a decent cooler so get that instead. plus its the OC edition.

Personally if it were my £500 i would get,

AMD Phenom II, 720 2.8Ghz
Gigabyte 790XT UDP4
Gainward GTX260
4GB Intel Extreme DDR3 Memory
320Gb Samsung F1
LG GH22N40 DVD
OCZ 600W

Why you ask, well having a Quadcore at 3.2ghz is all well and good but its never going to be used, the 720 is just awesome, 3 cores at 2.8Ghz and it overclocks well, if i had two PCs, one quad, one triple core no-one on this forum could tell me which was which 10 times in a row playing a game.

The GTX260, i have this same card and its brilliant, fast, quiet, cool, as i said look at the 4850 as the minimum really.

The motherboard is one down from what you picked but it does the same job.

OCZ 600W PSU, your PC will use about 300W when overclocked, so this gives you 50% spare, so it'll run cooler, quieter and you have lots of headroom.

320GB Samsung F1, the F1 drives are quiet and work very well, this is probably the one place you can skimp, as you can always add another Hard Drive, plus they always get cheaper.

Comes in at £502, as i said this would be my purchase and i would be very happy.

It will last you 2 - 3 years at a guess, but 6 years is crazy talk really.

Why because the more wattage your psu uses the hotter it gets, the hotter it gets then the faster the fan spins up then the louder it gets.

Also the higher the load then the more stress on the parts, i.e capacitor ageing.

Also if you are gonna be using 300W and get a 400W PSU then the AMPage will be fairly low on it, but if you get a larger PSU 500 - 600W then the AMPage will be higher allowing for future upgrades.

He was gonna pick a 400W PSU, a HD4850 for graphics, so what if he wants to add another later for xfire? His PSU is practically maxed out.

Plus any sort of Overclock on the Phenom II 955 x4, is gonna add another 70 - 80W into it.

Is just playiing safe really.

I personally want my PC bits to last as long as possible.

Great build :)

In a recent toms hardware test triple cores performed best for games in comparison to dual and quad.

Also what good is a quad core 3.2 ghz with a cheap gfx card? the gfx card will make or break a gaming machine. So money invested here is a no brainer.

the 600 stealth PSU also beats the 500 as it has a 8 pin mobo connector for stability when overclocking AND it has two PCI-express 6 pin graphics card connectors which the GTX 260 needs. (the 500 only has one)

triple core with decent graphics wins hands down over quad core with medium graphics any day :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Another thing about getting a overpowered PSU, and essentially what El Wayneo was saying about heat, is that as you reach the PSU's maximum rating it's efficiency drops. Bigger electricity bill at the end of the day.

But be aware that a cheap 600W PSU will not be as efficient as a more expensive 500W.
