View Full Version : need help
i know i have already post 2 posts along the same kinda thing but i am still unsure. i want to build a computer around this cpu
AMD Athlon64 3800 Venice
i dont know alot around computers but i would like it to have around a 250 gig hardive and a gig of ram.
cheers ben
can anyone who knows alot about this kinda of thing be able to suggest good and compatibe componets for it thanks
Dot know whats ur budget but i'd recommend
Corsair Twinx 2x512MB XMS3200 (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=20217)
and
Samsung HDD
SATA (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=24030)
or
IDE (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=24028)
Asus A8R-MVP ATi Socket 939 (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=22723)
Then get an ATi graphics card (PCI-E)
Or if u want Nvidia go for ABit KN8 SLi Socket 939 (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=21338)
Both the motherboards can have dual graphics card for the future but make sure they are exacually the same

Mason....If you have an Nvidia chipset...you can still have an ATI Gcard.
If you have an ATI Chipset...you can still have an Nvidia Gcard.
It doesn't effect it :)[/quote:0fe46040a5]
This is correct.
I think hes talking about Crossfire/SLI ;)
One of the boards supports ATI crossfire, the other one Nvidia SLI :)
ya SLi and crossfire. or will crossfire board suppoert SLi? and the other way round? i'm not sure about that :P
Only SLi supports SLi and only Crossfire supports crossfire. No interchangability as of yet.
so which one would be better for this cpu, i dont intend to buy a graphics card at first if at all as i never play games, or do i need one
sorry i am a noob
Save the dosh and dont get dual graphics. Any card will work with and mobo as long as their both PCI-E. I would reccomend this:
http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=24631
Its got onboard graphics, to save on buyin a gfx card till later on when u may want 2 upgrade.
ok thanks, what 1 gig ram stick would be best for this Mobo and cpu?
also how hard is it to put a computer together, i see myself getting all these bits and then just ending up with a black screen

ÈL ® ö B ì Ñ u seem like a smart guy, so if i buy a
AMD Athlon64 3800 Venice cpu
Samsung HDD
DFI RS482 INFINITY Socket 939 mobo
and i need ram, i would like about 1 gig which will upgrade at a later date.
Would u be able to should me a good 1 gig ram stick and anythink esle i would need, like fans or anythink

oh dear , not sure I'll sleep tonight

your first hurdle will be getting the components right
not just with respect to having it all work together, but getting the most out of it
like PP says, a 939 will outdate before an AM2
When you have settled on a spec post it back here, we can fill any blanks and maybe make a few changes to get more value for your money.
building is pretty straight forward
