So its a Billion pounds.

I'm sure that Intel has made lots more money than that in the 5 years they have been naughty.

Are they gonna give the Billion to AMD?? Pay off some of that foundry debt.

I was reading about this the other day actually... What they did seems pretty underhanded! Interesting they have antitrust cases/rulings against them in EU, Japan, Korea and also investgated in the US..

~I shall try and find it, but Forbes did a story on Legitimate Billionaires.

Seems there are not many, no-one really gets to the top without dodgy practices and once you're at the top then i'm sure you have lots of friends and equally loads of dosh so it doesn't matter.

AMDs problem is lack of advertising.

I thought AMD's problem was that their chips aren't as powerful as Intels...

I think you might find this goes back to when they, intel, weren't doing quite so well against amd and thus gave oem manufaturers big incentives to not use amd chips, ie gave them away or at a massive discount making amd chips less atractive.

Yeh i remember reading about this, to be fair amd didnt have the ability to produce enough chips, so lost a fair few sales.

back in 98' I used to work for Time computers and AMD would pay us huge bonuses for shifting pc's with the AMD K6/2 in them. Intel didn't give us a penny.

Amd was all I sold back then :D

I had an AMD K6-2 machine from Time computers about then.. It was my first venture into overclocking too! Got it from a 366 to a 450! :D

I think it still might be in the same cupboard downstairs as the P1 150 I mentioned in another thread actually..
