View Full Version : ***CLOSED*** Who wants some Manchester United stuff?

Robin
17-05-12, 11:04
The boss went to a Manchester United game the other day - something special apparently. I am not a football fan as you might guess ;)

He got a goodie bag:

http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac349/robinm2/IMAG0519.jpg

It contains a magazine and two glass thingies with Fergie on one celebrating 25 years and some other guy who I don't know :)

http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac349/robinm2/IMAG0524.jpg

They come in their own gift boxes and its all in a tasteful black bag with the ManU badge on the side.

Seems like something for the diehard fan... so let us know why you would want it!

Most convincing argument will win!

Entries in by the end of the month.

GO!

I believe you should give this to the Warehouse guys Aka, Pete/Tahir/Neil.

Especially Pete, he is a die hard fan.

My argument: We will get our well trained Forklift Driver to get A Silver car from the carpark and put it on top of the containers ;)

Would wanting it so I can later burn it be a justifiable answer? :)

My brother is a die-hard MU fan (sigh), I'm actually a West Ham supporter myself so wouldn't actually want these. However it is his 30th birthday in a couple of months and these are something that I could never normally consider getting him for a present as it would mean paying money to MU. If I was able to win these then I could quite happily justify giving him a fantastic 30th birthday present that I know he'd love and more importantly that I know I was able to get without being lead to the dark side and made to pay money to MU to obtain.

Great giveaway Robin, nice to see a United fan win something this year :chuckle:

I don't think Manchester United fan morale is going to be at its all time high this week .... just a hunch ;P

Would wanting it so I can later burn it be a justifiable answer? :)

I don't think you can burn glass? :D

Robin

Thats why they have till the end of the month to get over it and think positive again :)

My son in law to be is a Utd fan.
The rest of the family are city fans.
I can genuinely say that I've never heard him gloat about man Utds successes, but he's endured some serious smugness from the rest of the family this week.
I feel sorry for him.
He also had a signed utd shirt from the 80's that he had to sell recently when he was unable to get anything other than part time bar work.
He'd like this and I feel he deserves a break.

If I win this, I will carry out a study into "the strength of glass blocks when subjected to various stresses". Videos can be made (I also am not a football fan).

Or (and more likely ), I'll sell it and use the profits to buy something from Aria. :D

Massive United fan here. Been to 7 games this year at home, including the 6-1 defeat to City which was painful. Currently saving up for a season ticket for the up and coming 12/13 season too. Would love the stuff you've posted pictures off.

Season ticket holder for a long time now :) have been lucky enough to see Utd play in England, Wales, Denmark, Holland, Germany, France(Monaco actually) Spain and Italy,

one of those games being what many consider the best Utd game of recent times, Juventus 2 - Man United 3 Stadio delle Alpi, 21st April 99 :D

UrKo
17-05-12, 17:42
That Juve game was amazing. I was given tickets to my first OT game this year for my bday. Was the Everton game ...

Took my son on a school trip to the Theatre of Dreams on a cold November night to watch United play against Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup
It was the first visit for both of us to Old Trafford and none of the first team players were playing which was quite a dissapointment for us, we lost the game 2-1 after Crystal Palace scored the winning goal in extra time

This would really make his day if I'd win this, here's a pic of the kids outside just before the game

Still kept the tickets as a souvenir

I'm checking this thread every day.

I know the rules say its gonna stay open til the end of the week, but some rules are made to be broken.
I think most agree that Urko should give this to his lad and by the end of the month he's gonna be feeling better.

Do the right thing. End it early and send it out. :)

I think you should give it to me! I support Manchester United because when I was younger (I think I was about 4), I used to collect the premier league stickers, and I chose to support Manchester United because I liked their "logo". True story.

Not a footie fan myself (Wigan Warriors) but my Brother-in-law is a die hard fan, he goes to other countries to watch and support them, he has not got over City winning the title race so this would cheer him up no end.

My father in law is a big Manchester United fan, this would make him happy!

He recently retired due to ill health, he has Aphasia, which basically means that he is finding it increasingly hard to communicate. It will progress to a point where he probably won't be able to speak or write and will be unable to understand others speaking to him. Which as you can imagine as a college lecturer - isn't good. Its a real shame if I'm honest, because not only is he a thoroughly decent bloke - he is also one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable people I know!

So if you give it to me, I will make his day! :thumb:

I'd take them to a Rugby match so they can see a real sport, but they will probably dive at the gate and start crying until we cancel (and then mysteriously be well).
Not that I think they are a bunch of actors, oh no!

Wow!! those laser etched glass thingies are awsome!!
Just a shame they have two fugly dudes etched into em, what a waste of laser... what a waste of glass... what a waste of electricity...
They should have put a 3d pic of a naked carol vordaman in there instead! Now THAT would be a competition worth entering!! :surprised:

My daughter is a die hard United fan - she was evn lucky enough to train at Carrington with some of the players. I'd loveto win this for two reasons - 1. She will LOVE to own this stuff 2. It'd really, really annoy my other half (her dad) who is a die hard City fan when she insists on putting this all on display!

UrKo
31-05-12, 13:33
Hey guys thanks for the support for my lad. Just an update he is currently on his third plaster and has to go back in a month. There is some tissue growth around the breaks but the doctors have said it is not getting better yet but they are happy as its not getting any worse.

I have zero interest in footy. Less in Man U. However...I do know of a young lass who is far from well, yet she runs a thing called Postpals. It's a kind of charity to cheer up very sick children by doing simple things like writing to them or sending them small gifts. Basically putting a smile on a face that badly needs one most of the time.
I'm pretty sure one of their Man U fans would love this...so that's where it would go. http://www.postpals.co.uk/ is the web site for this, but TBH although it's a great thing, it makes pretty saddening reading with the stories of those brave little souls. As you can see, any small thing that people take the time to do is much appreciated, it doesn't tke much.

It's also a pretty cheap and easy way to do something to make someone's day...so feel free to join in and send a card or something, it's not about money or how valuable things are as much as someone thinking about them and balancing all the crappy stuff with a little nice surprise. Personally I just pop the odd thing I see in the post and don't get into writing too much, I haven't got the stomache for some of the not so happy endings as it is without getting too close. One little lad collected keyrings...over the moon with a fair few I got overseas mates to send him ...not a big thing or hard to do but it made him happier. ;)

When you read posts from the likes of Timmmers who make someone else happy, it really gets to me when you read about oposite in the papers. The lazy kids roaming the streets up to no good, mugging people, thinking they have a right to take what they can't afford. The youths of today, doing drugs, carrying weapons, lacking respect. Its those people that should be made to look at society in a way they are grateful of what they do have. Get them off the streets with programs that make them give and help others.

Right... its between Timmmers and Urko... Do you want to think about a split of the items? An Excel shootout might be a bit harsh in this case!

I think that a great compromise, both worthy winners :thumb:

UrKo
26-06-12, 16:28
I would def be happy to split as receiving anything will make my boy happy after his arm break. He still having regular hospital trips and will brighten up his day.
