He might be running a higher resolution or something though :)

My laptop can run most things at 640x480 - struggles above that though

Still odd tho - I run mine at the same res as him, have a very similar setup (when not overclocked) and mine doesnt lag at all. It doesnt really struggle even at 1600x1200, although it is a bit noticably slower, but not to the point where you don't want to play it..

Just thinking about it though - might be worth overclocking it a little. I forgot, mine is an overclocked version, so that might be the thing which makes all the difference, and saves a bit of money!

YOu could sell your existing 8800GT for £55, add the £50 you have to spend and get a GTS250, or save up alittle more and a GTX260.

but isnt the GT250 a 9800GTX+ which is in turn an overclocked 8800GTS? or am I mistaken?

If so there would not be much of a gain over an 8800GT?

Not really - it's a better card but not by a massive amount.

At the same time, 8800s in SLI isn't necessarily going to be much better. You might be better off selling the 8800 and putting it towards a 260. The 260-216 might be a bit much, but the stanard 260 should be quicker and it's possible to get them for £115 - if you get £55 for the 8800, £50 you have it's just another tenner :)

You don't stipulate your power supply and system temps! Sli can be very unstable and hit and miss with high temps. I would just upgrade to a faster card.

I wouldn't put up with that... get yourself a 260  you know you want too

forget x2 8800 SLI, that wouldn't cut it too well compared to selling your 8800 for £55 say and get a 2ts 250 or ideally a gtx 260. The difference will be like racing a Corsa against a Ferrari :D
