was doing some cable magement and found a really taunt molex cable and i (being a genius) pulled it as hard as possible upon following the cable trought the case discovered it was attached to the hdd when i tried to boot it told me to enter system boot disk so the hdd is gone

so i decided to leave it until i found some money i recently tried booting up and it came on for 3 seconds and then the psu died so now i need 1 of them

im just wondering if the hdd's medmory can be restored and how much the replacements will cost ( im also going fro itouch so need to have an idea) got 100 pounds any ideas???????

What PSU did you have,

What other components do you have so we can recommend the right wattage?

I doubt your HDD is actually dead mate, when you get your new PSU just plug the molex back in and see if it works.

Most data can be recovered from a HDD but it can get very exspensive.

the psu is a generic ( i know but i was poor and in need of a pc)

and the hdd molex cable is ok its where the hhd plug contacts with the actual harddrive that is the problem

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a different molex connector? If thet're all in use, just swap one of the molex connectors from your DVD drive or something, just to see.

tried it and theres nothing wrong wiht the molex cable (this is before the the psu went dead and it was oinlky the harddrive) on thee hdd itself thers is the slot where the molex plug goes in there are 4 holes these are then linked from the molex adaptor on the hdd to the hdd itself those have come off and ive tried fixing them it just isnt working
