What do you guys recon, all suggestions welcome except use amd, im not a big gammer so intel is better for me.
I would spend £20 more and get core 2 duo. The overclock like crazy, and are IMO far better than Pentium D's. I wouldnt buy a new system unless it was a Core2 Duo.
Second that on the core 2 duo may be a idea to re think the Maxtor drive as well few peeps on this forum had probs with them
I only choose the Maxtor drives because they have a quicker seek time than the similar drives by other makes.
If i was going to go conroe id have to get the 6600 and thats going over my budget really... I suppose i could wait another 3 weeks and go conroe.
Well thats why i asked on here, I have been out of the game for about 2 years, so thought i best check my spec before I build a new machine.
Avoid Maxtor at all costs, Ill remember that one.
Still not sure if i want the leap in price for extra performance.
I cant see how much better a Dual Core 2.4ghz will be than a Dual Processor 3.4ghz for double the price.
dillema.
Believe me, its not the clock speed that equates to speed all the time. Look at amd compared to intel.
The core two duos almost all of them beat the FX's and +5000's. They are very woth it, and as ive said, overclock like a beast. On stock cooling, the can go upto 3ghz and more.
See thats where i get confused, All you used to look at was the Bus speed and the clock speed and maybe the cache.
The cheaper processors had poor bus speeds and low cache.
Not saying core 2 duo's aren't better, just getting to grips with it is a nightmare.
Give me a StrongARM any day ahaha
Oh and the modifications are....

But its now £120 over budget so I am going to have to get saving.
Comes in and a round £920.
With that core 2 duo, it will fly like hell, you would be able to smoke any Athlons IMO. I am an AMD boy, but they are very good chips, very nice setup you have there.
I cant wait to get that GFX card working with my HD tv....
Looking good now djdaface 3 weeks is nothing to wait to have a sys like that m8
Wondering if I should wait for january sales, plow the savings into a more powerful graphics card (if there is any)
Oh yes m8 there is always some think bigger and faster but at a price
I the same every time I upgrade my pc keep pushing it up bit by bit thinking well if I just do this or the other then before I know it I spent few hundred more then I thought
The sys you going to get now is a very good one but at the end of the day its all about money and how fare you would like to take it

Its the route nost people will be doing.
I know me and PP are both planning new systems in the January - March time period, and i recommend most people do the same.
Gives time for new hardware to be estabilished and tested. :D
Wicked thanks for the advice guys, im sure ill be on and off here alot then till end of jan while i peice together a masterpeice lol.
