As i can't remember the last time i booted from my XP drive i have decided to do away with it altogether.

Question is how?

It wont let me format from within Vista, I think its because it is listed as a system drive under disk management?

I have deleted most of the stuff off of it and moved the stuff i want to keep and it still wont let me format it.

Main thing i want to do is remove the option screen when booting.

Any ideas?

TIA.

or in vista,

Start>Search>msconfig

Go to the boot tab. Delete the line(s) which refer to the OS you dont want to boot. Restart, and format XP disk. :)

Is that the same thing?! Apologies, that sounded really bad then!

I just tried it on my laptop, and it didn't work, so I just thought i'd post how I'd do it :) But that could well be because its a laptop and requires the press of a function key!

Have you tried using Diskpart from an admin CMD prompt?

Open a command prompt as Administrator
Run Diskpart application by typing Diskpart in the command prompt.
In the “Diskpart” prompt, enter rescan command and press Enter key to re-scan all partitions, volumes and drives available.
Then type in list disk and press Enter key to show all hard disk drive available.
Select the disk that contains the partition you want to remove. Normally, with just 1 hard disk, it will be disk 0. So the command will be: select disk 0
Finish by Enter key.
Type list partition and press Enter key to show all available and created partition in the disk selected.
Select the partition that wanted to be deleted by using the following command, followed by Enter key: select partition X
where x is the number of the partition to be removed and unlocked its space. Be careful with the number of this partition, as wrong number may get data wipes off.
Finally, type in delete partition override and press Enter key.

On a similar note... any one managed to get a working Vista SP1 disk?

I have tried numerous times with V-Lite but have always found that the install fails. :(

Any hints as to what I am doing wrong?

I don't trust downloading one, you dont know what else has been slipstreamed into it
